My intention when I did this painting was to take an everyday situation – like looking out for the post-man and turning it into a vibrant and alive moment in time! / No matter how small and trivial things may seem – there is always something else going on: one just has to take a look at that poor fish! I lik this painting, my friends say it makes them feel like ”...putting on their dancing shoes!” / (It’s a frustrating fact, but for some reason this painting just won’t upload to the right proportions – it’s living it’s title to the full – and just NOT conforming!) Please visit my blog for more of my artwork or for inquiries on original paintings if I still have them available.

This photo was taken with another of my eccentric little cameras…this time a tiny little Russian Lomo…The camera is about the size of a packet of cigarettes and was originally developed by the Russians as as spy camera…. It never really worked all that well as a spy camera being somewhat large for the task at hand and unreliable as all get out but eventually the arty farty camera tragic fraternity found out about it and it was a big hit with them… I got an authentic and numbered one fairly recently and have been doing some road tests on it in order to take it with me to Antarctica. This is the first chance I’ve had to post some of the results from it here on Redbubble ..hope you like them… I’m quite impressed myself and am looking forward to using it to spy on some penguins while I’m away :)

Don’t take this one too seriously, folks… heh heh heh Tip of the hat to the Freaky Font Foundry, who created this font – Monsterchild. I am fixing up the dud T’s and I just realised that this isn’t the shade of red I used in the original. This looks more like blood – well, if you’re going to walk around with a message like that on your shirt… 20/09/08 – now available exclusively in black. / My best selling item, by the way. / You people are weird…

In 2005, my husband and I were trekking through England as part of a three week journey we had planned. Towards the end of our stay, we found ourselves enamored with the little seaside town of Whitby. On one of the two days we were there, just as we were ducking into The Sutcliffe Gallery, I spotted this amazing looking man sitting on a bench across the steep sloped lane. I normally do not have much courage when it comes to photographing strangers. I tense up, and lose the moment because I’m too shy to lift the lens. But there was just something about this man that intrigued me, and so I hoisted up the camera, and snapped the picture. Part of my inner voice was prodding me to go introduce myself. The other part of me just wanted to fade away and not disrupt his day. The latter won out. I stepped into the gallery, wandered around for at least a half hour, and by the time we emerged… he was gone. For three years I’ve wondered who he was. I’ve heard from a couple of people that he is a peculiar local of Whitby, but that’s about all the information I had – until today. I received a note today from a resident of Whitby, who filled me in on who this gentleman is. His name is Barry, and he has an amazing story to tell. I was linked to a YouTube video, showing part of a documentary filmed by Channel 4 in England, featuring Barry. If you’ve made it this far in my ramblings, I urge you to click this link, and watch the clip. If anything, it really drives home the point that in those brief moments of time when you pass by a stranger on the street – you never really know the intricate history wrapped up inside that skin you see. They are valuable treasures…these unique experiences we all have. It is the stitchwork that weaves us all together. I really wish I had sat down and said hello to Barrry that day. It would have made this life’s tapestry all the richer. Copy and paste this link to meet Barry: / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7MbUXjDyDc

We may be taught not to judge a book by its cover, but when we see a new face, our brains decide whether a person is attractive and trustworthy within a tenth of a second. The lines on this man’s face carry the story of his life. It is a glimpse into the soul of a survivor—a man weathered by life and the elements. It is a portrait without pride, but equally without surrender.

She crawled out of her hole one day by the old meadow. She was weird.. Everything she did was weird and we never could get her to talk…or even laugh. It was almost as if she wasn’t another kid at all. Or even a person. She would give me these weird items she must have considered significant or nice. But no one ever understood her and neither did I, She just held out cards, they were supposed to tell us our fortunes. She always collected strange things. Books, dead birds, and anything really. Then she just up and left. Even the huge hole she lived in, vanished. Some rights reserved. This work is licensed under a / Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 3.0 License.

Without Reward
by Stephen MitchellCheck out my latest idea posted on the Adelaide/SA Forum...
Check out my latest idea posted on the Adelaide/SA Forum . As we all know, many popular photographic locations are heavily-trafficked with snap-happy tourists who want to take the postcard shot. Therefore this idea offered invites those with a cryptic, artistic and inquisitive nature to shoot an image of those same locations, but in such a way that would not make it obvious as to where you were. Although aimed at Members of the ASA , anyone can use this concept in their own neck-of-the-woods. Without Reward? Yes, because it is a challenge. Quite a challenge. Happy hunting.

Art & Poetry.
by Ash rebeltheraceAnd you listen to those words that make you sick / And gaze upon the art that makes you cry
I wrote this after looking at a friend of a friends myspace page / Which is a fairly pathetic inspiration i guess / But it really motivated me to write about how next to this virtual stranger / I feel like the most unoriginal tragic being in the world / Because she is so.. marvelous and unique / Something she makes seem easy, yet is impossible to grasp
