A wierd contradiction happens in Africa. People are so very poor, the only clothes they can get are those given away by charity or sold for a pittance by second hand dealers. Such organisations or traders get their clothes ultimately from the charity bins you and I donate to. Therefore people living in abject poverty wear outfits with brand names emblazoned on them such as: Timberland, Nike or Ralph Lauren. The same names people in the west pay a lot for. Ironic? Yes. Amusing? Yes a little. I came across this beautiful young girl in the ruins of broken lava, homelessness and chaos. She was wearing a light blue dress and carrying a burberry hand bag. Classic. Vast rows of deciduous trees can be seen in perfect columns, displaying their autumn attire, at this tree farm in eastern Oregon. Tree farmers sow rows of trees in varying stages so they can be harvested at different times and therefore produce a constant yield to maintain a consistent gross. Eastern Oregon October 2007

I think that this one will be great For the resturant / Gods kitchen.. the theme is perfect for that resturant. Acrylic and inks on stretched canvas 1992 / called for the sultans eyes only ..I imagined a secret and royal type middle eastern setting .. and that one of the sultans harem girls had wandered out into maybe a forbidden zone.. there are only certain rooms that the harem girls can go into. ..and certain places not.. / to me this is a real east meets west painting / In my blood runs some middle eastern (lebanese) on my mothers side plus european (scottish and irish )blood on my fathers side .. / some of my work has a real middle eastern / theme or flavour and this is one of them. / $950 au size: 60 and 1/2 cm by 90 cm / This painting has been SOLD..thankyou for your interest . / Linda Ridpath, 8 days ago / this is beautiful, i love the blue colour here!!

Best on Full Size (767 views on 11/4/09) The male Eastern Bluebird … my favorite birdie … image captured on a bird walk in Olney, Maryland in June of ‘08 with the Nikon D40x and the 70-300mm vr Nikon lens at focal length of 300mm. Image has been cropped. Shutter was 1/320, Aperture f/5.6, exp 0.00, iso 100. Texture added in Photoshop along with some digital painting. Range and Habitat / Eastern Bluebird: Breeds east of Rockies from southeast Canada to Gulf of Mexico; winters in southern portion of breeding range. Inhabits open woodlands, clearings, farmlands, parks, orchards, gardens, fields; often seen along roadsides on utility wires and fences. INTERESTING FACTS / When approached by a predator, male Eastern Bluebirds make a song-like warning cry. If a male is not present, a female will begin to sing, hoping to attract a protective male back to the territory. / Their numbers have declined due to competition from starlings and house sparrows for nest sites. / Clutch size varies with latitude and longitude, with bluebirds farther north and farther west having larger clutches. / A group of thrushes are collectively known as a “hermitage” and a “mutation” of thrushes.
