The “Conversation Piece” consists of 22 copper-bronze statues near The Groyne lighthouse at Littlehaven Beach, South Shields. Designed by Spanish artist Juan Munoz they have been a talking point for the last few years. Oddly, from a distance you can never be sure who is talking to who – human or statue!

This photo of local children was taken on a small island off Cambodia in January 2008. The girl is holding her younger sister in such a grown up and mature way. I couldn’t see the mother in sight and think the children had more or less been left to look after themselves.
Unfortunately this is one of the areas that was affected by “Black Saturday”, I am so hoping that this little pocket of Myrlte beech forest wasnt touched by the fires. There were fires in the Blue Range, Marysville National park. The Myrtle beech trees have been around since the Jurassic period. I stood in the river with my jeans rolled up to my knees, the water had slowed nearly to a stillness as it gathered around the rocks in the water that were covered with moss, as I hit the timer button on my camera in that 10 seconds I had time to reflect on the raw beauty of this ancient forest. The forest that stood before me was thousands of years old. It was summer out beyond these beautiful old trees it was a stinking hot day, the flies stuck to my body, I found relief in the river and under the ancient old tree. Under the ancient trees it was freezing, for some strange reason it was like the middle of winter under the trees and my feet and legs were numb from the icy water that I stood in. This was taken in Vietnam late one night in January 2008. I was enjoying the evening warmth and noticed this frog behind me in the bushes. This image came second is the Fabulous Froggies! Macro Frog competition in August 2009.
Following our noses to Hsipaws famous popcorn factory, we hear giggled “I love you”s from the side of the road…turning we see nothing, hearing only excited giggles.. we walk on, following a delicious, hearty smell only to again hear a “hello.. hello” this time we quickly spin to hear a small child squeal and run off to her friends, hiding behind a bamboo fence enclosing their village.. We wandered over and they giggled with excitement.. most of the children would have been under 8 years old, there was one girl who was a bit older and could speak very basic English.. The smaller children jostled for a photo, what strikes me is the intense look of anticipation on their faces… most all the shots we took show a similar expression.. the little girl with the straw hat was quieter and smaller and only approached us when we were leaving.. I hadn’t taken her photo yet.. / Technically the photo is very flawed.. it’s blown out and full of shadows but it’s such a beautiful expression that I just did what I could to present it…
The most amazing light fell over Rainbow Bay, QLD at sunset on the 8th of July. The wind dropped to nothing, the swell was glassy and the colours of the sky and water kept growing richer and richer until finally darkness took over. An amazing night to be out walking, surfing or taking snaps…I hope you can get the feel!

Every Rainbow has a pot of gold at it’s end. As the storm passed the rainbow came out and lined up nicely on this small building left standing in paddocks between Millicent and Kingston in the South East, (Limestone Coast) region of South Australia. Canon 400D 18-55 with CIR Polarising filter.

My First Visit to Leeds Castle / Looking through the blossom. Easter Flowing Beauty at Leeds Castle Kent UK. On this photography trip, I thought “I’ll go out and only take my 50mm prime (no Zoom capability) with me, this meant that for every single shot, to get the framing right I had to move rather than the lense. It was really interesting. Peoeple were watching me much more than normal, I had to duck down, stan tall, kneel in mud and walk back or walk forward, just to get the framing right. It was a good exercise because what you do get with a prime lense is pure light and quality of glass. It’s obvious in the sharp details in the 170 pictures I took on this shoot. I’ll definitely try it again. However, only taking the 50mm prime did hhave it’s limitations as well. I couldn’t get close enough to some subjects to capture the detail that I’d like to have. However, next time I can alway take along my zoom with me. One good things about Leeds Castle, it cost £16.50 to get in, but that enables you to go back as my times as you like within one year. So I’ll definitely be back to capture some more wonderful scenes from here. The place is a choc-box full of delights for any photographer or artist. It’s magical and amazing. / Camera.
