The lighthouse stands alone. / It leads a solitary existence whose purpose is to shine light into dark places. No two lighthouses will ever stand together….for then neither would show their true light to the world. They require space and distance to do their best work. So they spread their light across the land, and across the ocean, steadfast and courageous, guiding, inspiring, never knowing who might be touched by their radiance, always seemingly alone. Yet imagine – what if they could connect with the energy of another lighthouse in a distant place, and their combined power and light create a previously unknown magic to embrace the Earth with force and compassion. While their feet remain firmly planted on their homeground, it is only the space between them that allows the healing light to travel back and forth across expanse and time so that it can be seen and felt by all. Would the Earth itself feel this web of illumination? The 6,000 year old Sumerian descriptions of our solar system include one more planet they called “Nibiru”, which means “Planet of the crossing”. Nibiru is said to have an approximate 3600 year elliptical orbit that takes it far beyond the known boundary of our solar system. There is evidence of many cover ups by NASA that date all the way back to what may be the original discovery by the NASA IRAS satellite back in 1983. You can read the original front page story published in the Washington Post at the link below, as NASA / pulled their announcement a week after giving it. Thankfully it was archived by CalTech at the link below… for now anyway. / / Mystery Heavenly Body Discovered, Washington Post – 31-Dec-1983 / http://spider.ipac.caltech.edu/staff/tchester/iras/washington_post_mystery_object.html / / Further, there has been ongoing evidence of NASA doctoring images captured from a wide array of different telescopes for over 30 years that may show the approaching Nibiru. Ice cores taken in both Greenland and Antarctica also show that Earth has had significant impacts that relate to this 3600 year orbit of the mysterious ‘Nibiru’. There are also references to it in almost all religions, from the Bible, to the Koran, to the Mayans, to the aboriginals on many different continents. / / Governments around the world are building elaborate underground shelters to house thousands of the rich and elite, as well as, other underground shelters to warehouse seeds and other genetic material. Wanted to depict the earth being used up and our children’s children being left with a speck to live upon. For the technical part, I used 7 textures and 2 photos. One being the little girl < Kolleen > and the other is a cut out from my lake adventure. I used a radial blur on 2 of the layers for the flying in space effect. Burned a bit more shadow around the child to make her blend better. used the smudge tool around the edges for effect. All Work was done in CS3. / Thank you for looking! Here is a close-up

With the global economy caught in the gravity of the financial crisis, it’s sad that programs like the Constellation Project will have a long wait before anything truly gets off the ground. / / NASA’s Constellation Project is set up to finish the International Space Station, retire the Shuttle Fleet and build a whole new fleet of space vehicles which will take us back to the Moon, then Mars and then the places beyond. / / But with Congressional limitations and funding cutbacks due to the financial crisis, as well as being stuck with a complicated and restrictive “go as you pay” finance structure it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing any groundbreaking manned space flights in the naughties. / / This image represents a fleeting memory of a childhood dream to see man explore our planets and then the stars beyond and it’s one of the few things as a child I looked up to America for. / / The universe is a big place and we’re yet to make it out of our solar system but without programs like the Constellation Project, man may never ever get to make another giant leap. / / DETAIL / / / /

I never do spacey things.. but I so enjoyed this piece. The whole world and the stars surrounding it seem at times to be almost touchable. Almost as if they are part of me as i am them…. I know that i will one day land amongst the stars and become part of the energy that they portray….. Until then i will absorb the beauty of the world as if it was my own child…..
