This is my artwork entry for the ‘Freedom To Create Prize’. It is very complex in the multi-issue nature of the messages it is meant to portray. What may appear as separate issues are really a part of a larger single issue showing how the individual issues are inseparable from one another.The artwork addresses the following individual issues as a whole… / / 1.) Feeding the population of the Earth, and not just the hungry or starving. / / 2.) The great public misconception that biomass fuels, such as ethanol, are really a ‘green’ alternative technology, when in fact, they are not a viable and sustainable alternative energy source, as they create exponentially many more energy, environmental, and human rights issues than they resolve. / / 3.) The ongoing loss and abuse of the very few fertile soils that exist on Earth due to the accepted agricultural practices we continue to use in how we grow food. Please take the time to read the article that I have written that accompanies this artwork at the link shown below. It will give you a basic primer as to why these issues are inseparable. The terrain file in Terragen was sculpted by myself by digitally hand-painting a greyscale heightfield map in Photoshop, and then importing the bitmap file version into Terragen. The multitude of other environmental files used in Terragen were also created myself. The gas pump was created from a photo I took myself. The starving child was created from a PD image from the web. The pump and child shadows were drawn in Photoshop. All of these separate components were than composited, painted, and re-touched in Photoshop. Please read this. Job 16:18 If I should die, I beg the earth not to cover my cry for justice. Taken outside Tunga/Zuga village where we are running a help project, Alice was alone in a dry barren field. She is an orphan and was shivering with a fever. With little food and no medical care, her condition was severe. We did not know at the time she was an orphan until we took her with us to the village. In Ungwa/Fada Village the well collapsed in 2007. Now they drink river water, that causes many to suffer from Intestinal worm infection. This kills both Children and adults. There is little food as they have need of tools, seeds fertilizers to grow better quality food. / Alice like many children cry out for someone to love them enough to help them when they are sick, to mother them when they lost their mum, to cloth them and shelter them when they are frightened and lonely. The need a fathers strong arms and smile to comfort them. You can be this to Alice adn many like her. I have seen so many like Alice die in agony, and been unable to help because we had no money to buy medicines or care for them. I have dedicated the past 15 years of my life to helping children like Alice. The Philadelphia Mission Charity is set up for this very reason. / We are in need of your Prayers and support so we can continue and expand our mission to help many more Like Alice. Over seven years ago, I became increasingly aware of the Earth changes and shifts in energy. Initially I tried to ignore them or find “logical” explanations as to what was happening, but eventually I was overwhelmed by what was happening on all levels around me. / Gradually I realized that it was the Earth herself who was trying to communicate with me.. / So I was compelled to take pen and paper and go and sit quietly in nature and ask “What is it you wish to tell me?” ...and this is what she said / ....... It has taken a long time for me to do this, but what was written back in 2003 has now been published in a book together with a collection of my images, and will be available for those who wish to read the message or honour the planet that we would be nothing without. This piece of art is to celebrate the publication of the book, Message From Mother Earth From the book….. “Do not be afraid. This is powerful awareness. But it is also useful and healing too. It teaches you that we can create the world we live in, by the power of our thoughts. You are seeing that your connection with every part of your life begins and ends within yourself, within your heart, within your true thoughts. You are part of this circle of life, this very web, this intricate design of cosmic energy. You are at the heart of it and from your heart comes the power to weave your own beautiful creation. It is within you to change, to heal, to create, and to simply BE. Do not overlook the importance of this knowledge. And do not overlook the magic. For if you can communicate with the planet you stand upon, and speak together from the heart, then nothing is impossible in heaven and earth! Believe it, and it shall be so.
