I just love the variety of stones and shells you can find as you stroll along the australian beaches. This one found in Goolwa, it has struck me straightaway as I never seen something like this before. Has an aboriginal feel to it and also resembles kangaroo ears in this abstract form…

These were made as a commission pair for an American client for $80. I first designed these in 2007, making a single from copper as part of a project. I posted pictures of it online on my main art account, and they remain my most popular gallery piece to date. The original inspiration for the design came when i was roller-printing metal and used some feathers. Having seen ear cuffs in wire form before, i decided they would make an interesting type of jewellery to attempt, and my background love of mythology guided the design form to that of wing shapes following the feather imprints on copper and the fact that being a gemini, Mercury is my planet (and Mercury, in roman mythology, was the messenger with winged sandals, sceptre and helm). / Taking measurements for these was tricky and involved torturing my ears somewhat, but in the end my organic mathematics did the trick, and they fit rather comfortable once you get used to putting them on and off and securing them (which admittedly is still painful, but all good fashion is anyway, right?). My commissioner recieved these recently and informed me that she has been wearing them around a lot, and getting nothing but positive feedback about them from friends, which is really great to hear! This pair is constructed from polished 0.5 mm thick nickel-silver sheet, sterling silver chain and anon. white metal jump rings for attachments. / The metal feather ‘charms’ are removeable. / They were completed at the end of september. Design is copyright L.C. 2007-09

The Sensoids are a group of extraterrestrial bipeds that were all born on another planet whose population is divided into three specially adapted creatures. This group has extra large ears to be able to hear predators and prey lurking in the distance. He is usually very quiet and frequently gets headaches due to the noises around him sounding about 1000 times louder than a human can hear. He is very kind, but is always accused for eavesdropping.
Adobe Illustrator. For this project my class and me had to create “characters” that flowed well together. Inspired by music, I thought of the experiences of listening to music. I kept the theme of music notes throughout both pieces.
Here are the earrings and necklace I made from some old bracelets of Claire’s. / You can look how the necklace hangs on a person in “Flintstones With Class Necklace – Brown Stones” / and the bracelets are under / “Flintstones With Class Bracelets – Brown Stones”
