I have decided to give up painting due to loss of interest and hiting a brick wall with sales. Yes, I have said this before, but after not being allowed to enter the usual Art Exhibition because the work is too big.. enough is enough. The problem is that I can turn out paintings but unless they sell what is the point! / All I can rely on are the dates I attend our local Theatre and I might just as well give them away there. I will,of course be leaving the work on RB for anyone to look at,but I fear that if I continue to churn out pictures,I will soon be able to build a house with them and they are impossible to store now. So it is with regret, that this is the time to let go. / I will be popping in every now and then just to see what is happening and to keep in touch with you all. / Be happy and enjoy being as productive and dedicated as you are. / Love Cyn / xxxxxxxx

The traditional five senses are: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. A classification attributed to dear old Aristotle. As some of you know, my family has been on a journey to diagnose, understand and treat my daughter’s hearing loss. We recently came to understand that my daughter has a progressive hearing condition that will likely leave her deaf at an undeterminable point in the future. Trauma as simple as a soccer ball to the head could take her hearing down a step – or cause it to drop out completely. Here’s an ongoing conversation about her condition. Thank goodness there are Cochlear Implants as a treatment for complete deafness, but we’re hoping to never reach that point. For now, my five year-old is sporting bright red hearing aids underneath her tangerine locks. I just wanted to take a quick moment to thank everyone for their support via Bubblemail, email and Twitter. Sometimes this art community is simply a community; and sometimes it takes a village to keep you going. When I tripped over redbubble many moons ago / It looked too good to be true / Free membership and access to beautiful work / I read the Terms and Conditions through and through At the time I was paying for uploading my work / To a site I’d been on for 2 years / Never sold nothing, & as hard as I tried / Poor starving artist was one of my fears. I felt talentless, dejected and wanted to give up / Whats the point in carrying on? / But seeing RedBubble new hope filled my heart / Signed up and that’s just the start. I tentatively uploaded some artwork / Wondering what kind of reception I’d receive / But I shouldn’t have worried because on the Home page / There’s my picture with Congrats ..I couldn’t believe.! To be on the home page is something I never dreamed of / Never thought that this could happen to me / Only work that stood out from the crowd I thought / Work that sprang out and shouted “Quality” I bragged I’d found a new art site / Told my many friends from near and far / Delighted they signed up to join me / Giving me strength to shout “Redbubble,I’m Here” We had a few hiccups along the way / Because a couple who followed were cheating / And eventually after proving there fraudulent ways / Their Asses sure got a beating. All in all it’s been a worthwhile journey / Though my mojo has been missing so long / I still have my friends who continue to watch / RedBubble is where I belong.

Alas and alack. / Perhaps the time to part company has arrived. / Perhaps it has been here a while and I just did not see. Why am I despondent? I recently sold three t-shirts. Two Say No To Fluoride and Beware of the Photographer These sales gave me much pleasure, not least because any hammer in the nail of fluoride as an addition to our already chemically polluted drinking water is a wonderful thing. So why am I despondent? Because sometimes, despite that old adage that no news is good news, the absence of a reply can only be an indication of agreement. When the response to a question or statement is a blatant agreement to an unpalatable fact ‘no news’ is in fact the worst news. What on earth am I talking about? After being considerably insulted yet receiving no response at all – tending to imply to me that the insult was meant, I bubblemailed the person involved and received an equally non-existent non-reply. So if those in such a position are holders of such an opinion, I can only respect their value judgement (since only through them have so many good artists come to view) and question my presence here. So perhaps the time has come. All things, good and ill, come to pass and to end. Perhaps I have much to offer but this is not the time. Perhaps I have nothing to offer. Perhaps I am just despondent. Perhaps tomorrow will bring with its new day some new feeling – a resolution to prove my worth, a strength to stand tall, a faith, a confidence, a value. Or perhaps not. The trouble with artists is that they get so damned temperamental. I’m certainly not going to cut my ear off though. (Not any other bits). Thank you for viewing, if you did.

  • An image uploaded to Wikimedia by J.J. and placed within the Public Domain here If it be helpin’, start yer sentence wi’ a “Arr, me hearty,” in a deep, throaty voice — ye’ll find that the rest be comin’ much easier. The perfect image with which to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday invented in 1995 by John Baur (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon, who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with “Hello,” but with “Ahoy, me hearty!” The holiday, and its observance, springs from a romanticized view of the Golden Age of Piracy. I work in an injury studies research centre, and one of our main areas of focus is falls in the elderly … this morning I slipped over in my chook pen (knee-deep in mud after all this rain), and hit my head on a sharp bit of the shelter. Took a lovely slice through the top of my ear, but fortunately it didn’t go all the way. I don’t think they’d have bothered to reattach it after I’d fished it out of the chookpoo soup! I now have three or four stitches (hard to tell with the local), and a very attractive little bandage, not to mention slightly pink tints to my newly blonded hair! And just how DO you have wash your hair and keep your ear dry???????? I’m going to look so glamorous for my Grand Final weekend in Melbourne LOL

  • SNOOPY (UPDATE)
    by Mia1

Hi to All, / Thought …

Hi to All, / Thought I would update you all on Snoopy. Snoopy, kinda had a tune up. He had surgery a couple of days ago. He is 9yrs old and getting up there. I will take a photo of him tomorrow (as he is sleeping right now) and put it up but he kinda looks like he has been hit by a truck. / He had this weird thing on the back of his leg. Dr said, tumor but looks like a wart. They can take it out but can’t garantee if it will not come back. Looks like there was something in blood test but Dr. Said, it could be because of the tumor. He does not have just one as he also has them on tail at the end but those are small and kind looks like dry skin. / He had his teeth clean, ears cleaned out, tumors gone, blood test (because of his age) toe nails done, eye lift on both eyes. (hair was irriateing his eyes and was always crying) so we had to get done that as we don’t want him in pain. So, for all that it was (drumroll….........) $800.00 ouch!!! So, right now I am looking after him. / So, that is it. / Take care Miss you all. Getting ready to go to the Myan Riveria next Thursday. Hey.. / Mia
