The traditional five senses are: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. A classification attributed to dear old Aristotle. As some of you know, my family has been on a journey to diagnose, understand and treat my daughter’s hearing loss. We recently came to understand that my daughter has a progressive hearing condition that will likely leave her deaf at an undeterminable point in the future. Trauma as simple as a soccer ball to the head could take her hearing down a step – or cause it to drop out completely. Here’s an ongoing conversation about her condition. Thank goodness there are Cochlear Implants as a treatment for complete deafness, but we’re hoping to never reach that point. For now, my five year-old is sporting bright red hearing aids underneath her tangerine locks. I just wanted to take a quick moment to thank everyone for their support via Bubblemail, email and Twitter. Sometimes this art community is simply a community; and sometimes it takes a village to keep you going. Here are few ear t-shirts on RedBubble that inspired both thought and a chuckle or two. / Ear (Light) T-Shirt by alienredwolf / ear creations T-Shirt by regina / Evolution of Spock – Star Trek T-Shirt by Adam de la Mare More ear images: Ear T-shirts – and another view of Ear T-shirts / The world’s best daughter … my POV

Awww bless! My lovely Sox [tomcat] who we thought had an ear infection, in fact, has a cauliflower ear. He had to be rushed off to the vet twice in the few days leading up to Xmas, to have the blood drained from the pocket which is now between the skin and cartilage – which takes up the entire inner part of his ear from base to tip – and it has filled up again today. These drainage treatements are costing me £80.00 a time, and I simply cannot afford to keep having them done every few days. I heard that there is an operation that can be done to prevent the ear from refilling. anyone know anything about this?

I have decided to give up painting due to loss of interest and hiting a brick wall with sales. Yes, I have said this before, but after not being allowed to enter the usual Art Exhibition because the work is too big.. enough is enough. The problem is that I can turn out paintings but unless they sell what is the point! / All I can rely on are the dates I attend our local Theatre and I might just as well give them away there. I will,of course be leaving the work on RB for anyone to look at,but I fear that if I continue to churn out pictures,I will soon be able to build a house with them and they are impossible to store now. So it is with regret, that this is the time to let go. / I will be popping in every now and then just to see what is happening and to keep in touch with you all. / Be happy and enjoy being as productive and dedicated as you are. / Love Cyn / xxxxxxxx

Hello all. I have been sick for the past month so please forgive the lack of my activity here. I have an inner ear infection which is playing with my balance and also making me very dizzy. As of yet I have yet to take my new camera on a real test drive. This inner ear thing sucks! I cannot be on my computer, it makes me dizzy to scroll down on pages. And I cannot read. I just sleep alot. On a happy note I was featured twice Everyday Women this past month. I was just to ill to check, My works To See the World and For Maria were both featured. I am truely honored and excited. I hope I can get back into the swing of things very soon. Best Wishes, / Olivia M

Dear Jounal: / I received a bubble mail and checked it out, I like cruising around in my bubblemobile, I feel like the Pope of course dressed more causally except for drag night that’s a cardinal sin. Seems some artists are disturbed by au currant artistic endeavors not up to snuff…blow that old snot out your blow holes arty artist. Art is so subjective but here is the truth, art is brokered by agents for money bought by patrons for private amusement or tax donations, once you accept the money you are a business person, selling commodities so whatever the traffic will bear and sells is art even on the WWW…fart that out your elitist blow holes… hubris best served cold, pack up your art and get an agent and then the laugh is on you, because art is art that is bought and sold by those that don’t make art just sell it to whomever will buy it, drawn by kiddie crayons or acrylic diarrhea, why even fractals crapped out by fractolgist painted by the numbers. One man’s art is another man’s poison…hell cut off your ear die in poverty and in a hundred years why Sotheby’s will be your Valhalla all patrons singing “Starry Starry Night” and wondering if they can buy Van Gogh’s ear…cha ching art is a business not art. One of my favorite dudes is Leonardo da Vinci designer of weapons of mass destruction and one grand Mona Lisa….some then questioned his au currant artistic endeavors…but Vincent was panned and too much like a crazy child with crayons, yup he was crazy alright and not much liked by the artistic status quo critics, where are those critics now (?)….art what a shitty business….wiped by the Art Nazis….Achtung! Ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Artist discussing the validity and merits of fellow artists’ artistic endeavors is like a butcher doing neurosurgery on one’s self……why? Yup they both handle sharp object that’s why and cut the cuts. Dead artist sell the best…seppuku art…just do it! Art du jour.

Come on in and relax. I’m just organizing my workshop. I’ll put on some water for tea. Oh, let me tell you about my next-door-neighbor’s cat. His name is Snake, and he grew up in Alaska, but now he lives here, in the Smoky Mountains. I call him Neeky Nake, but my cat, Katana, calls him “That nasty thing next door who tries to invade my space!” Well, I’ve noticed that for the last several days now, Snake has brought his 20+ pounds of muscle (yes, muscle!) over to lie stretched out in my slowly growing herb garden. Well, I put Katana inside for a minute and wandered out to see Snake. (Obviously I’m not allowed to do that when K. is out.) I wandered down to the herbs, noticing that many of the plants were coming up, including oregano, chives, garlic, and, right there, next to Snake’s nose, the tiny, low, tightly bunched green first leaves of the catnip! By the way, If you love those green emeralds Angelina wore to the Oscars, check out my ANGELINA at the OSCARS GREEN onyx I have posted on www.moonelighte.etsy.com Oh, on the commercials for the news today I heard that they were having a noted environmentalist on later to talk about a local issue. Have you ever noticed that all doctors, writers, etc are noted and prominent? Even if they were totally unknown before? I, mean, really have you ever heard one introduced on a show without being told ahead of time that s/he is “noted” or “prominent”? Just curious. Well, enjoy the tea while I pack up! I have to take my husband back to the doctor today for another test- wow! what you go through when you get old!- and send out this shipment, and pay the land tax for the year so I won’t have a bunch of homeless rocks, and try to get a little extra sleep, since I’ve been up ‘waaay too late the last few nights. So, what kind of tea do you want? I have a bunch of different ones… Think I’ll have rosehips. I love the pink color!

The softest eyes look out from under, / Blackest water fall from heights, / Start from the head and downwards plunder, / Guarding back those lovely eyes. / I reach my hand to touch thereafter / Any trace of his mind yet, / But such an act must spell disaster, / Such is the way his mind is set, / The backward steps that many flatter, / The offered ears that many fold / The smallest ripples are all that matter, / Yet often those fears make summer cold. / Then whence do flying rivers come? / That bear blue blossoms in its stream / Perhaps I can lend him one blue feather? / So he’ll be patched to fly his dream. / In many ways, I reach for farther / Of course, these things, I would endeavour: / Over the cuttings and wide past the harbour, / To sparkle those eyes that look out from under.
