The Eagle Owl didn’t seem too keen for me to take this picture, puffing himself up, hissing and clicking his beak. Or possibly, he was striking a dramatic pose for me…

I love this shot. The Wife and I were doing the down river canoe ride. I had the long lens and this beautiful bird flew up on a dead tree branch to show his stuff I guess. I pulled up the camera and the river was gentle for the capture. Lucky and happy too.. I decided to try to clean up the old slide image a bit. 6-11-2008

Black-shouldered Kite (elanus axillaris). I have spent many rewarding and challenging / hours in the great outdoors finding and / photographing some of Australia’s wonderful wildlife. / Here I present a piece featuring a beautiful bird / of prey: the Black-shouldered Kite. I find it a striking bird with its snowy white / feathers and intense amber/orange eyes. / On a couple of occasions I have been able / to get close views of them in the wild. Catching my Breath: / January 2008 has been almost a non-stop run from gallery to gallery. On the January 4th I received an honorable mention for “The Bog” at the River Reflections Art Show. Then another gallery that deals in contemporary art has asked for me to have them represent my work in their area. My first regional exclusive representation so I am stoked. In order to get to that level the gallery owner wants to include my work in a show that begins in February so I have been busy getting new work prepared for that show. / / It has been a bit crazy to stop in to all the online venues my work is presented but I do see my schedule becoming a hectic buzz of creating work. Therefore, I will be focused on maintaining the groups I own/moderate and posting works and trying to keep to a regular schedule for my online venues. / / The Artist of the Month for December will be merged into the Artist of the Month for January because there was such a low turnout of votes I assume because it was right in the middle of the holidays. / / I wish everyone a creative and healthy upcoming year for you and yours. / / Some groups that you may want to visit and join: / AW Welcome Center / EF Welcome Center / Globes, Spheres and Curves / DaDa Land / Boolean Art / Fantasy Art / Human and Nature / Light and Reflections / Disclaimer
