I now know why I had children. It is to help me with computers. I’ve seen people here link to other pages of fellow Bubblers work and I REALLY wanted to do that as well. I’ve read how others have done it but it was just like scribbles on a page. “HELP” was my call this morning to my kids. They gave me answers and all they got from me was a blank stare. My first attempt was a failure so I do apologise for that. On further inspection my son found the answer and I got a slooooooooooow step by step instruction which has been inscribed on bold for my future use. I gave it one last try with a hesitant “are you ABSOLUTELY sure this will work”. ” It should” was his reply. I murmured ” I don’t wan to feel like a bigger idiot”. I pushed “add comment” and YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS echoed through the house. Just wanted to share my warm fuzzy feeling of achievement.

English within English ruminations (?)

Dear Journal: / When you have a conversation do you say “period” at the end of a sentence. Or use bracket marks [{(brackets or braces)}], question marks?, exclamation marks! And quotation marks ‘ ” quotations marks OMG….just too confusing. I love words like confusable “there or their” and “to,too,two,2, ewe (just kidding u ewe)” and there are some really sneaky ones “weather whether wither.” I have that mad madness of dyslexia fun and funny I can spell dyslexic ten times out of ten, I think because it just looks wrong and dyslexia is very personal (personal personnel). / Children can be cruel but never as cruel as adults who should know better and choose to be cruel, kids’ learn from adults. I did not learn to read until I was twelve all the alphabet just “things” and words blocks of things a scramble, one day I remember it vividly the letters that were (we’re were where) words….were just that WORDS! Imagine that, I read everything that I could read most of the time three and four times I had no choice….wow not bad for an idiot…children are cruel but not as cruel as adults, like cold hearted teachers who could not teach or adults who are so smug with their ability to speak or write but have no ideas and never will. / English is the new Latin, it really is beautiful elegant infused with loan words growing and expanding new words invented and words welcomed to facilitate expedite and just making English in its variations the lingua franca supreme, I adore American-English. My first language was Spanish and Basque with some French and German a hodgepodge milieu a virtual Babel. What am I trying to say (?)…hey this is my journal so I can ruminate and meander with no rhyme or reason or give a hoot about grammar or structure just rant. OK nothing pisses me off more than when native English speakers demand that immigrants speak “English” usually by those that haven’t a clue about English (?) American-English, Canadian-English, and Australian-English it goes on….English within English varies and some words spelled the same may have a different meaning or use. Imagine an immigrant trying to master English and failing miserable a little bit like dyslexia. Daunting is an understatement letters words just don’t seem to make sense at all. And trying to speak English for some it is very difficult some do try and succeed others may never be able to speak English publicly. Reminds me of the time I was in Saudi Arabia of course they speak English publicly….how is your Arabic? Mine sucks. / Just a note I was born in the United States, California to be exact my forbearer’s arrived in the western hemisphere with the Spanish invasion of the Americas. I am still dyslexic and do my best to speak American-English and try not to misuse or slaughter the English language Oy Vey….ha ha! Tolerance patience (patient the Doctor will see you now) and being human not mano-a-mano…OMG another manifesto about mano-a-mano another time, words why they are all confusable in any language.

Lost for words Patrick / Might not have a dictionary tucked at the end of his long sleeves in winter / But he always has a number to lend / My favourite being 3458790012 / Which I couldn’t possibly pronounce or tell you / But Patrick could and he would hand it to you as if it were / The best piece of pie he had made in the oven / Apple with lashings of cinnamon / His own style of pastry acting as the casing Lost for words Patrick / Might not be able to write you a sonnet / But he can build a roof over your head / With fancy corners and twisted ideas of style and architecture / Sometimes out of place in the remote space of Australia / And if you look at him / You might not be mistaken in thinking that he could be / From another country / Or time just visiting this world with a sense of amusement / Far older than his shoulders provide. Lost for words Patrick / Isn’t really lost at all. / He has a tiny compass and computer locked away inside, / it’s just a game he plays with the universe / and the universe, him; and somehow / school and reports get in the way of the adventure of discovering / and beyond the numbers, pies and creations that peel away at least one layer / if you listen very carefully, even lift the pastry crust, / peep round the corner or lift up a number four / Lost for words Patrick can be seen saving letters / and punctuation, and he’s looking for more …

Dear Journal: / Today was one of those days tons of writing an oxymoron for me what a joke, I am a dyslexic non sequitur. Just the same old same old stuff for clients a lot of blah blah I added some extra blah they like that. Man wrangling letters is much harder than wrangling cats especially ie and ei….didn’t use any weathers or withers….anyway just more thoughtless thoughts out loud…just picture it ether with either gets you high too….whoa. You with normal brains stop using to when you should be using too hell just use 2 it still reads the same…the brain compensates…oh go ahead and diagram any of my sentences you like they are atrophies no atropism….hell I mean ah-tro-shush-us…see brain-knee-acts you can read too. / Mad madness things letters keep getting transposed…it looks ok I can’t tell the difference sometimes. How long have I looked at “were” when it should (have?) be or been “where” and I am told we’re just like you’re and the killers i before e except after c that I remember sometimes ie ei still reads the same….yeah just like in school that was hell not even purgatory. I need Captain Ahab’s harpoon someday I am going to nail all the Moby Dicks and defy all the Captain Queegs of the world but then they aren’t guilty either I guess….no wonder Cain killed Abel just not good enough his take on the offering….I bet they were twins (almost wrote where). Apostrophes why do we need them they seem superfluous (?) another non sequitur…I know about non sequiturs…..pictographs that would work I wonder if dyslexics have problems with pictographs…..no…I see pictures in my mind…picture words not sentences of thoughts line by line just non sequitur thoughts.
