This Green Violetears Hummingbird was either fiercely guarding his corner of the flower patch or was overly curious. I’ve never been able to get this close to one of these guys before. Taken in the José Celestino Mutis Botanical Gardens of Bogotá, Colombia. / / /

I haven’t been called to the “sand box” yet, but I have plenty of Army buddies that have. Keep your heads down, guys! Come home safely.

Seven of this year’s eleven foals have been left in the care of the 2 leopard mares (Fancy & Harli). As it was a really hot day, most of the foals were sleeping in the shade whilst their mums grazed out under the blazing sun. No matter how far the mares move away from their foals, they are completely relaxed knowing there are 2 guardians on watch during their child-free break. This is a mixed group of Quarter Horses & Appaloosa’s.

As a big sister, it is my duty and responsibility to embarrass the crap out of my little sister in celebration of her 21st birthday. Happy birthday Ally. Remember the time we dared each other to eat cat food? / Remember cleaning the shed? / Remember having rides on the lawn mower? / Remember “teaching the cats to swim”? / Remember putting the trampoline against the fence to make a waterslide? / Remember doing a Halloween play where Princess Diana was decapitated? Remember squirting toothpaste all over the bathroom and thinking mum wouldn’t notice? / Remember playing wrestling on the front lawn? / Remember breakfast picnics? / Remember making our own outdoor toilet and hiding it from mum? / Remember spitting in our ice cream to make it go sloppy? / Remember doing the box thing with Dada’s video camera? And for the record, I love my sister and have waaaaay more embarrassing photos than this. You got off easy kiddo! :)

My son’s PitBull Pup Rocky; this was taken at only a few weeks old and has always been a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, taken with an older camera, and a smaller image so may only be suitable for cards. Nonetheless, here it is…........I hope you find it as adorable as I did. Oh yes, and I almost forgot to add: Rocky is actually asleep in my Grandaughter’s car seat….very appropriate I think.

Continuation of ’’ Fire Sale” / Heres is the poem for reference, also in my written section : / *Clean up Duty * / It was early Morning, / Thats what the chronometer reads, / Ambient temperature is somewhat intolerable / The Alien men on Radiation Detail, / Knew there was alot of work entailed, / They are ready to start a new, / Ready to usher in a new dawn… Flying Saucers combed the skies, / While alien caterpillers soaked up the black death as easily as being out in the sun, / Fill up that belly, keep on going / Were gonna make this world green again, / Lets see if we can try, / To bring back the blue sky.. Working downtown, / New Life has already begun, / The Alien caterpiller has spawn its young, / Nourishing in the wastelands, / Mother caterpiller continues to give instructions, / While the little alien men make their deductions… its the end of the day, / Mother caterpiller makes her cocoon, / She is never the last of her kind, / For she will become the Butterfly , / Who will fly the astral Winds, / And continue to spread messages of Universal Hope for New Earth….. One of the routine chores of Mom and Dad Bluebird is “diaper duty.” Right after the baby bird eats, its pops its little backside up and deposits a tiny fecal sack right into the awaiting parent’s beak. It happens so rapidly it’s hard to get a photo of the “exchange,” but I managed to pull off a decent shot this time around! Humans have it easy compared to the birds’ method of cleaning a soiled baby! This might be a fun card to express thanks to a new mom and dad for the countless hours of care they give a newborn baby.

It was getting dark when I took this photo; I was amazed that even at this hour the bluebirds didn’t slacken the pace but continued the feedings. Those little nestlings never seem to get their fill of grub worms, crickets, grasshoppers, lizard tails, and all sorts of other odd delicacies. Mother Bluebird had to be tired after a long day of hunting for and delivering the goods.
