An interesting variation of the Playing Beasts image. Don’t know which one I like better. Soo, the same playing stallions but….in the dusk Pencil and some afterwork in Photoshop CS3.

This shot was taken in The Water Run on the Coastal Walk in Royal NP just south of Sydney Australia. It was a wild and stormy evening and the sun just started to emerge from the clouds behind me as it was setting. The blue tint to the water comes for a very short period around sunset – you can just see it in any moving water at this time in the right light but the camera really picks it up. Canon 30D / Tv: 1/6sec / Av: f/13 / ISO: 100 / FL: 28mm

A frustrating summer of not getting out much due to work and family committments. After a 3 days sales meeting I was determined to get to the mountains and finally made it for a sunset hike last night. I had to wait for the wind to die to capture this meadow full of Avalanche Lillies with Mt. Rainier in the background.

Kinderdijk is now a world heritage site south of Rotterdam, this is my most favourite place from my travels to date. I have been there during all weathers and seasons and it very seldom appears the same on consecutive visits due to the weather. My one regret is not getting to skate on the canals around the windmills, winters were never cold enough during my time in Holland. This is a mid summer twilight shot taken at 22.30pm local time after which I had a 1.5 hour drive home and up at 4.45am to be in work for 5.30 am the next morning, what one does to take a photo!! Het mooieste plaats in de wereld vor mij!!

Ya, thought the title pretty much summed it up! Captured a couple night ago as the sun was sinking low out at Reunion Lake on the eastern plains of Colorado. The colors were just stunning, I was pretty awe struck, it yielded quite a few really nice shots! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

BEST VIEWED LARGER No Filters, No Colour Enhancement, Just a Magic Moment and the wonders of HDR photography and wonderful sunset , great light and clouds . This is pure HDR generated from 5 bracketted images This shot was taken at Newport Wharf which is located on the shores of Pittwater north of Sydney. Easily accessable by car or public transport. Its the kind of place where you can wind down at the end of the day with a cold beer or a glass of Australian Chardonnay and watch the sun set in the west.. This is my neighbourhood about 5 minutes from my home, “Just a Little Touch of Paradise.” we get some great sunsets in winter / ! / So if youre visiting Sydney areas like this are within 40 klms of the city !

Mono Lake, California is a place of special beauty. Tufas are limstone formation that only built up under water; because water level has been drained to provide drinking water to Southern California Tufas are now visible outside of water. Mono Lake lies in the High Sierras just outside the eastern entrance of Yosemite National Park.

Went for a walk yesterday to a local beach to discover not only had the beach disappeared where we take our walks, but the lake had flooded over several streets in the vicinity! Regardless we were there for the dusk and sunset and I was able to get a few shots worth posting. / Taken with my Canon A75 at Laval-Ouest beach on Tuesday April 22/08.

Cherry Creek Reservoir State Park, outside Denver, Colorado….it’s pretty amazing the tranquility one can find in nature so early on a summer’s morning….and here I sat…on the shoreline, tripod 1/2 in the water, 4ND and my CPL bolted to my 18-70….watching this whole scene play out.. Yeah, talk about a relaxing moment and just a nice time kicking back and unwinding….this was it! And yes that is a Pelican in the water…”a Pelican in Colorado???” you say? Yes, migratory birds….they come up all the way from South America and spend a few months here…wild huh? Why here where there is no Ocean is beyond me, but they call us home for awhile. I will say this—they are without a doubt the most skiddish of any bird I have ever seen….they didn’t cme within 200 feet of me, and when they saw me driving up in my car, from 500 feet away, they turncoated and made way fast lol Well hope ya all like it, let me know what ya think! —-John

From my collection: / Wilderland ~ Alaska North Star Winter Scenics A brilliant golden winter sunset in late October 2007 reflects a warm amber glow on the snowmobile tracks, ice and snow covered frozen surface of Chena Lakes, Alaska North Star “One day the sun admitted, I am just a shadow. I wish I could show you The Infinite Incandescence (Tej) That has cast my brilliant image! I wish I could show you, When you are lonely or in darkness, The astonishing Light Of your own Being!” Quote from ‘I Heard God Laughing’ / ~ Renderings of Hafiz ~ Translation by Daniel Ladinsky

If I can put one touch of rosy sunset into the life of any man or woman, I shall feel that I have worked with God. G. K. Chesterton

Down through the pine needles it slides, in to a dusky twilight of the evening breeze, floating on a stratus of clouds and bits of remaining sunlight… chasing but never quite reaching the ball of fire… LavenderMoon~

Sunset, Oka Provincial Park, overlooking Lake of Two Mountains, bordering on the village of Oka, Quebec CANADA taken on Saturday November 29/08. / I couln’t decide between both sunsets and so am posting both… / This one was taken about 10 minutes later than the earlier sunset shot November Song and a little futher down the road. Any comments as to which one is better would be appreciated… “I venerate old age; and I love not the man who can look without emotion upon the sunset of life, when the dusk of evening begins to gather over the watery eye, and the shadows of twilight grow broader and deeper upon the understanding.” / ~Henry Wadsworth Longefellow
