Captured out on the plains of Eastern Colorado at Sunset, they just went on for miles and miles….like a fantasy world of never ending Sunflowers..processed in HDR
Sometimes waking up at 2:30 am to get to Rocky Mountain National Park for the sunrise and first light has it’s payoffs….and this was one of those shots. Shot in Estes Park, Colorado, thoughts welcomed! / —John / -—-——- / _See more on my website at jdebordphoto.com _
Ya, thought the title pretty much summed it up! Captured a couple night ago as the sun was sinking low out at Reunion Lake on the eastern plains of Colorado. The colors were just stunning, I was pretty awe struck, it yielded quite a few really nice shots! Let me know what ya think! / —-John
A Morning Stroll At the Lake Every now and then we almost miss a shot, and luckily this time I happened to turn around as I was walking back to my car from shooting the sunrise and had this scene greet me. Captured at Cherry Creek State Park outside of Denver, Colorado, the light seemed to almost dance among the trees. Processed in HDR

Captured 12/13/2008 on a very frigid morning at Cherry Creek State Park, here in Colorado, I froze my damn keester off because I was dense and forgot to bring along my damn jacket! It was an incredible sunrise folks, one which I won’t forget, the colors changed and developed by the minute, going from the cool blues to the warm pinks, reds, and oranges…and I was able to get something in the shots which I had never had been able to before, the lake actually shimmering! In some of the other shots in days to come, you can really see this, and you kind of can here in the bottom left side a tad, an odd occurrence, and one I finally managed to snag! Long exposure, using my Singh-Ray CPL and Marumi ND4, on my Minolta 18-70 DT Lens, I hope ya all like it, let me know what ya think! / —-John !
A New Years Sunrise While not a sunrise in the traditional sense of the word, but it sure seemed to be with the sun hiding behind the clouds, back lighting and glowing everything around me in a colorful haze in Moraine Park inside Rocky Mountain National Park. It was nothing but stunning! Quite the way to start and kick off the New Years I think! Processed in Photomatix HDR with 3 RAW files, then output through PSP 10, , shot on my 5D and Minolta 18-200 DT using a Singh-Ray CPL, and then hiding behind the car to shield myself from 80 MPH wind gusts lol The crazy thing is, the haze in the background, is actually from the snow that was falling and whipping around. Hope ya all like it! / —-John
*Sunflowers and Colorado Sunsets * Revisiting the Sunflower fields I miss so much, a magical place on the eastern plains of Colorado like no where else, a place one day I hope returns. As the front rage of the Colorado Rocky Mountains dances with the setting sun, this scene seemed something out a paradise lost, the kind of thing you only ever read about. On this day when shooting the sunset here, I shot over 400 shots and came back quite a few other times as well. Well worth it I would say! Hope ya all like it! / —-John Minolta 5D / Minolta 50mm f1.7 lens / Singh-Ray CPL / Marumi ND4 / Dynatran Tripod
A Fiery Dawn A Late Autumn Sunrise captured at Lake Estes in Estes Park, Colorado. It was to die for, to say the least….just the distant sound of the Elk bugling is about all you heard. Shot last year , July to be exact, this was at Derwentwater at Dusk in the English lake district national park Cumbria England. / Shot with a Nikon D70s and 18-70mm lens. /
This is an acrylic painting of a nutmeg seashell at dusk. This treasure of a shell is mainly found in tropical regions and vary in shape and size. Seashells have held a prominent place in our culture, they have been used as money, medicine, ornaments and objects of art. These natural wonders which are strewn along the beaches like jewels from the sea, are created by snails, clams, scallops and other marine mollusks. Seashells are wonders of the sea / Come let us look….take a walk with me / We will find the jewels, they are so grand / decorating the shores laying in the sand…. Lake of Two Mountains, in the village of Oka Quebec, CANADA,taken on Saturday March 21st 2009 with Nikon D40, Nikkor VR 55-200mm lens. / The tracks you see carved into the ice in the foreground are made by the cars that pass daily on the “ice bridge” from one side of the shore to the other. This ice roadway is maintained by a private company, has been 100 years in existence and no accidents have ever happened. However, the day that we were there, we noted during the afternoon that several pools of water had emerged over top the ice in some places and we presume that was the last weekend of using the passage over the lake to get to the other side. Well this shot did really well over on deviantART so I thought that I would also share with you all here too. (I honestly wasn’t expecting the 1600 odd favorites it received over there, took me by surprise!) Storm clouds fight with the evening sunset over the Colorado Rockies & Longs Peak. Every now and then I like to get a little artistic with my HDR’s and this is one of those, there is no right, no wrongs when it comes to photography and artistic interpretation, and i realize that not everyone likes that, nor this style, that is fine, I respect that, but I also ask the same of you to respect my creativeness, too! Now that being said, hope ya all dig it! / John See more on my website at www.jdebordphoto.com Minolta MAXXUM 5D / Shutter Speed: 1/25 second / F Number: F/9.0 / Focal Length: 80 mm / ISO Speed: 200

Remember the saying: Red Sky at Night; Shepherd’s Delight / Red Sky in the Morning, Shepherd’s Warning! One of the most persistent of the weather sayings used by sailors as well as shepherds. There were no weather forecasts, as such in the days gone by, and one had to make their own predictions. This is a loose watercolour 8×10”painted with two colours only Red and Green (Cadmium Red and Sap Green) and also mxing the two together to produce darker colours.
