the sunset was just incredible and I was driving thru Minesota when this field of sunflowers just happend to be next to the road, I did not think twice about pulling over to capture this moment on film!

Photo taken by collegue Simon Frankel. Then edited in Photoshop by myself. Thankyou to Simon for allowing me to post the photo. This was not a sand storm as some may think. Just over the hill was a raging fire that was taking control in 2006. They were taken at Pike River during the bush fire that burnt out around 120,000 hectares of scrub just north of the Riverland. / It was a mixture of smoke, stormy grey cloud and some sun trying to break through.

Mitsubishi Evolution at full throttle during the Victorian round of the Dutton Rally Series. This event marked my first go at experimenting with panning shots, it took me a while to get them sharp and to decide on what shutter speed was appropriate but in the end I was happy with many of the shots I took :) Click here for my other photos of cars!

Just a shot of the Tattersalls Lane street sign for Laneway Magazine. The laneway is pretty cool and runs off Lonsdale Street in the city of Melbourne. HDR treatment on photos into direct sunlight works so well, and can yield some interesting effects. Just make sure you choose the right colour space in the HDR software otherwise areas of extreme brightness can appear to be missing. HDR treatment from 3 exposures applied in Photomatix, touched up in Adobe Lightroom. Taken with my Canon 40D and Canon 10-22mm lens.

Back to the Future or crazy shooting at Sagrada Familia during its possible Grand Opening in the 2020’s...
by egoldFigure out the situation, I’m sure pretty known to you… You fly through thousands miles in different country just for looking at some great architectural creation. You think how you’ll make great shots of this building. You dreaming about it even during your sleep and… you’re there. But what you see… / Your dream is under construction. No great shots, just great frustration… It’s what exactly happened to me when I arrived to Barcelona, to my dream, to Sagrada Familia. This piece of art, probably the best creation by Gaudi, was covered by construction stuff and between the towers of the cathedral I could see just construction cranes… La Sagrada Familia is probably the most famous building in Barcelona and one of the most well known in Spain. Gaudí worked 43 years on the construction of the church, and the building is still not finished (the construction work is supposed to end sometime in the 2020’s). La Sagrada Familia will have 18 towers representing the 12 apostles, the 4 evangelists, Virgin Mary and Jesus. The Tower of Jesus will be the highest: it will rise from the center of the church and go up 170 meters – the towers that have been finished are 109 meters high. So… I figured out how it will be during that crazy day, when will be Grand Opening. I can imagine it because I’ve been in Barcelona when Barcelona socker team won the World Cup. Guess it will be crazy shooting around (just by photo cameras, I hope)...
