Thrilled at being asked to take some pictures for my friends who are expecting their fist child, I jumped at the chance and suggested something a little different to the shoot they may have been thinking of having at home… / Shot out in the desert, west of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on an overcast and windy day… work in post processing, sat in my warm house on an even more overcast and windy day… winters here! / Read my journal for a description of the day… crowds and all!

I think the moment I have been waiting for finally arrived. It was a beautiful winter’s day along the shoreline at Lake Michigan. The first thing I thought of when I came across the scene was pristine. Two lonely trees standing proud amongst the snow covered sand dunes. I thought they look so pretty against the fresh fallen snow and beautiful earth tone colors of the dune grass and blue sky. Taken in the late afternoon, Northwest Indiana. I might add also its was so cold out was so glad to get back to the car LOL. My second out with the Sigma and I think I’m in love with this lens. Nikon D80 Sigma 10-20 mm lens taken at F10 1/320s 16mm. Jan of 2009. Thanks for looking. © Curtiss P Simpson

Beautiful dune grass cloaked in snow at the shoreline of Lake Michigan. I soften this one up a bit as the snow was so find like powder I wanted to lay in it but I didn’t this scene was much colder then the image portrays. Taken at the Perry sand dunes at Wenthworth. / This was taken about half an hour before sunrise rather then sitting in the sand waiting for the sun to rise I took a couple of pictures to kill the time:)
