  • I went out today to get some shots and ended up walking up this rather steep sand hill (I could get fit if I keep this up). On the way back to the car I dropped my shutter release, but after backtracking for a while I finally found it. Thankfully, I didn’t have to climb this hill again to search for it.!!! / And to top that off, I almost sank in mud and nearly lost a shoe at another location…but that story is for another photo…. Title inspired by Frank Zappa. / / / / / /

  • Came across this at the near deserted beach along a stretch of the Oregon Dunes National Park. Perfect position for my polarizer to take full advantage of the perpendicular sun.

  • Unfortunately the skies here in the desert are mostly hazy and full of sand and dust! There are not too many days when there are clear horizons with clouds, and to be able to catch a sunrise like this was just excellent! Located in Libya towards the Algerian border. / /

  • “The Dunes” is part of the Seaside Series… / Watercolour on Arches….as before, old sketch from the files…gives birth to new painting… / / Sea waves are green and wet, / But up from where they die, / Rise others vaster yet, / And those are brown and dry. / They are the sea made land / To come at the fisher town, / And bury in solid sand / The men she could not drown. / She may know cove and cape, / But she does not know mankind / If by any change of shape, / She hopes to cut off mind. / Men left her a ship to sink: / They can leave her a hut as well; / And be but more free to think / For the one more cast-off shell....Robert Frost… /

  • Shot in the Sahara Desert, Libya near the Algerian border. These dunes never cease to amaze me! The colour at different times of the day are just superb. Nikon D300, 12-24mm f/4 at 12mm, f/9, 1/80sec, ISO 100. / . / / . /

  • The dunes of aberdeen in 2007, they are a place of special interest and research as these dunes shift. However donald trump has seen to it that they will be ruined all for the cause of a golf course. I was very sad to hear he got the go ahead. The only treatment here was black and white.

  • Taken at the Perry sand dunes at Wenthworth. / This was taken about half an hour before sunrise rather then sitting in the sand waiting for the sun to rise I took a couple of pictures to kill the time:)

  • Scanned slide. It’s been a while since these slides have seen the light of day… so I’ve been having fun revisiting them! Also, reliving the trips I took to take them. Anyone who has been in the Australian outback would have to agree it’s an incredible experience and one that stays with you forever. I have been blessed to have been included on two trips with some dear photographer friends of mine. Both were quite some time ago now and I sometimes find that my memory of where things were exactly taken has become hazy… so you’ll have to forgive me when I say… “somewhere in the Strezlecki Desert” ! I did keep a log of all photographs taken at the time (when, where, etc…) but after several moves it seems to have disappeared… bugger! If you haven’t been outback yet… you should definitely put it on the “to do” list… I know it’s back on mine… : )) Featured in the Outback Australia group
