A friend wandering along some sand dunes in Wales.
-
This was taken at the coast at the end of our summer, heading into fall. A very lazy and quiet day, with nothing but the sounds of the ocean and seagulls.

Beach seascape watercolor painting poster print by artist Derek McCrea

This piece was inspired by my love for the ocean and the beaches. I find comfort, joy and peace there. The original photos have been altered, I’ve cropped, did some dodge work and have merged both photos in PS.

somewhere, anywhere Down South in WA :) DUNES / Crisp blue skies with blaring sun rays / Flowing water ebbing on the shore / White silky sand beneath my toes / Gentle winds wafting around me Close my eyes, inhale the salty air / Tingling skin responsive to the breeze / Children’s giggling laughter echo’s / Seagulls floating with invisible strings Memories of happiness come flooding back / Hand in hand the shores we walked / Shells picked and given with undying love / Our names drawn like lovers in the sand Our hearts alive and vibrant / Just like the shorelines that we took / Flawless pure clear waters / Perfection at natures own best Dunes of sand leaving footprint trails / Cardboard toboggans flying smooth / Down her cascade toward the shore / Exhileration of energy burst Perfect moments of time stand still / Memories emblazed upon our soul / Time not forgotten nor ever past / Simply crisp blue skies and a waters edge. click image for more detailed view and please read below As the sun sets it paints the beach and sand dunes at the mouth of the pristine Powlett River a pallete of mauve coloured hues. As I stood in awe of the show unfolding before my eyes and ears with that irrepressible scent of the ocean I could not help but think that it’s no wonder that on an evening such as this that this is a coast has being enjoyed for fishing, surfing, walking, birdwatching, kayaking and peace for generations… With the largest desalination factory in the southern hemisphere proposed basically at this location….If only the ‘powers to be’ in Victoria could experience this – how could anyone build a gigantuous desalination pollution factory here ? ? ? / Latest info @ yourwateryoursay.org Fuji G617 – no cropping,no stitching. Velvia 100F. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / Taken on the majestic Bass Coast. A place that desperately needs YOUR help to survive. / With scientific evidence gathered locally and globally suggesting the proposed massive desalination plant’s chemicals will kill precious marine life on which the neighbouring world famous Phillip Island fairy penguins and seals survive on. Leaving them to basically starve a slow death… / The Penguin Parade at Phillip Island attracts 650,000 visitors annually and generates $75million annually to the local economy and Victoria. / Phillip Island Nature Parks estimate 26 000 penguins and 21,000 seals use these waters to survive. They feed on 14 species of fish including the likes of pilchards, anchovies and squid. / With the proposed desalination plant spewing billions of litres of toxic (from chemicals used in the desalination process) outflow into the ocean and this ecosystem annually. Scientists allege most of the marine life in the area will become vulnerable once the proposed plant becomes fully operational. / They estimate that the seals and penguins alone could possibly be gone within three to four years ! / / Desalination = environmental tragedy * / / *Please take a moment to read my journal entry / HERE / – 100% of all profits I make on this goes to this crucial campaign that effects ALL of us at yourwateryoursay.org / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see photography of this beautiful region under threat below / /

The second shot from my late afternoon wander through Canunda National Park near Millicent – South East South Australia. Looking for my normal emu and fox tracks and came upon this fresh lizard set working their way slowly up the dune. With great imagination you can almost see a dragon or lizards head in the shadow of the driftwood….....(maybe I’ve been on this computer too long..)

A late afternoon quick trip to Canunda National Park yesterday looking for animal tracks and came across this piece of driftwood sitting on the side of a dune some 500 metres from the beach. Canunda National park stretches along the coast in the South East of South Australia and is a photographers paradise, with much untouched. The area where this image was taken in called Oil Rig square, an area accessed from Millicent where they once drilled for oil… Had to laugh though, walked back over a kilometer from the ocean into the middle of nowhere, no human tracks or signs found and there in the middle of some animal tracks was a tennis ball. Weathered but still good for my dog!!
