There was certainly a chunck of metal to look at in this scene, i love capturing metal ducts, piping and staircases twisting out of sight in a somewhat geometric form, the whole scene took on a fairly neutral tone from the angle of the sun and cloud coverage. There certainly was a great sense of industrialness here probalby due to the fact I’d just walked out of another fairly clean residential alley.

This is part of an old rusty air duct and the metal wall it was against , that was in the old machin shop in a small town just outside of Carlsbad, New Mexico. I loved the different textures and shades of rust that was on this ! This was taken with a Panasonic FZ50 Deep Seeded

2009, Oil on Canvas, 12” x 16” Parents of three kids or more will most likely wonder why they never came up with this idea…yeah, I know – Social Services was just around the corner (believe me: I would have been one of the early adopters of this child safety system). The sheep of course have no fear of bureaucracies – good for them, maybe not so grand for their offspring…

Best Viewed Large This is for a challenge in the Construction and Demolished Group This was the final piece of duct work that was lifted and set by Local 105 Boilermakers at the Wm. Zimmer Power Plant. I am a proud retired member of Local 105 which I retired a year after this pic was taken after working 38 years. Image copyright © 2009, Larry Fridel.
