  • Shot this back in November, 2004, when the grass was much greener, and there was water in the dam. There’s only been water in that dam one other time since then, and it lasted around 6 weeks….this is a nice reminder of what we used to have…. Sold this a number of times pre-redbubble, mostly A3 size, and it won me a $1500 prize from the Brisbane City Council, as well the John Herbert medal at APSCON 2005, and also a number of other smaller prizes. This was sold december 2008 on redbubble as a matted print. • If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands. / Douglas Adams Quote Wood Ducks / Wood Ducks —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- It took forever to finally get a closeup shot of him. He was so shy and kept flying across the lake. They were here at the city park during fall migration. They are not tame but truly wild ducks taking a quick break before traveling again. I was amazed to see them at the city lake were people walk all the time because of the fact they normally do not like to be near people. The only other times I have seen them is in more secluded areas and they always flew away before I was even close. I sat very still for over two hours and finally this wood duck drake swam close enough for me to get a great shot of him. I am so thankful for that wonderful day. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Let’s help keep our waterways clean and protected. This is a Living Planet after all Let’s keep it that way, alive and living So far 5 Sales of this image on Redbubble since joining RB plus this image has also sold the most on GCU out of all my images there :) This photo was taken back in 2007 at a park in Nebraska.

  • / Tobermory is a gorgeous little town on the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. It’s harbor not only filled with luxury yachts but also with a lot of shipwrecks, which makes it a divers paradise. It’s part of the Fathom Five National Marine Park of Canada. Luckily for me you don’t have to dive to discover a few of the shipwrecks. Luckily because I spent to much time underwater once, without diving gear, and I’m not inclined to submerge myself for longer periods under water. ;) This beauty caught my eye when strolling along the shore, with the duck approaching, I had to hurry but I was just in time to capture it. This image is one of my most popular wallpapers on my wallpaper website and I hope it will make me proud here also. • I met a fellow RedBubbler, Adam Mattel yesterday and we did a photo shoot together. It was a very enjoyable morning and a pleasure to meet a member that lives nearby. This is one the images captured along the Susquehanna river at Harrisburg, PA. This site was settled due to the founder Harris operating a ferry across the river.

  • A duck sitting and looking about in the grass next in Stephenson Park, Mount Barker, South Australia. This image was selected by Avant Card and was printed up as a free post card which was made available throughout coffee shops in Sydney. It is also one of my most viewed images,

  • My origami calendar I folded the mother duck out of trace paper around the time I saw ducklings on the way to work; can read about that here. I can’t remember how big the paper was; I believe 13×13mm. The two little ducklings in the centre were folded from 6×6mm pieces of trace paper while the little one at the back was folded from a 5×5mm piece of trace paper. I know mother duck is just behind the 4cm mark, but the duckling at the back is infront of the 1cm mark, hence the duck family is a 3cm spread ^ _ ^ New version added August 21, 2008 / Looks great on a card! • This will be the last origami piece I post before heading off to Rome; and I will unlikely be doing anymore while I’m in school. I’m not fooling around; I made these ducks before in the first version of “3cm Family Swim” as shown above; and remember I said I may redo that shot at some point? I’ll still keep the other one up though. In this coloured version I coloured the water and sky and placed a transparent ruler over the water. This one has one less duckling than the previous one (I laid off the little guy who wouldn’t raise his bum :P) Every duck was folded from trace paper; mommy duck was folded from a 15×15mm piece, the middle one was 6×6mm, and the little one at the back 5×5mm. • Well, you may remember this little one from our backyard duck experience this year. He’s so cute I decided to go back and have another look, and came up with this rendition. I used a gradient brush background with lighting effects added to highlight the duck. I used the orton effect on the duck to make him soft. Everybody needs some lovin’, don’t they? Hope you like! • A small English village, Hanley Swan in Worcestershire. It boasts a duckpond with a nesting platform. I was camping near there last summer and took a walk to this village. To my pleasant surprise I found this Heron, he was looking rather pleased with himself and in no mood to take flight …......... Copyright 2008 Richie Dean PhotoArtMaster and Adobe Photoshop

When I approached to take a picture he kept trying to hide and eventually ran across the water and hopped on this lily pad in the middle of the pond. He stayed there until I left and when I looked back he swam back to shore. I thought he was so cute as if to say “I am safe here because you can’t see me on this lily pad” Nikon D90
