I didn’t really notice the Mallard Duck in the shot until I got home. The color in the water adds a nice effect to this fall shot. The falls in Waterfront Park,Kelowna, Nov9/2007.

The Red-breasted Goose breeds in arctic Europe, often close to nests of large birds of prey, This helps to protect this small goose from predators such as the Arctic Fox. It is a rare vagrant to Great Britain and other western European areas, where odd birds are sometimes found with Brent flocks.

The male has a dark green head, a yellow bill, is mainly purple-brown on the breast and grey on the body. Mallards in the UK may be resident breeders or migrants – many of the birds that breed in Iceland and northern Europe spend the winter in the uk.
Taken at Expo Park in Aurora, Colorado. The park was right behind the apartment building where I lived, and was such a wonderful, peaceful place to walk & sit and just be in nature right in the middle of a big city….I spent a lot of time out there when I lived there.
She seemed to be enjoying the solitude of her swim. Being mating season she probably doesn’t get much time to herself.

This was taken at dawn on 21 June 09 at Hasting foreshore. I was out bright and early for a sunrise shoot and spotted this large duckling family but they all went their separate ways before I got my gear out so I’ve captures the slow coaches. / Canon 450D / 18-200 IS lens
