This will be the last origami piece I post before heading off to Rome; and I will unlikely be doing anymore while I’m school. I’m not fooling around; I made these ducks before in the first version of “3cm Family Swim” as shown above; and remember I said I may redo that shot at some point? I’ll still keep the other one up though. In this coloured version I coloured the water and sky and placed a transparent ruler over the water. This one has one less duckling than the previous one (I laid off the little guy who wouldn’t raise his bum :P) Every duck was folded from trace paper; mommy duck was folded from a 15×15mm piece, the middle one was 6×6mm, and the little one at the back 5×5mm. I was at the park today testing out the new camera and as soon as I stopped the car this flock of Ducks came waddling over. Just as I snapped the pic this one in the front goes and stands on one leg. Thought it was a cool shot. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography

Wood Duck…aix sponsa…...puts a whole new meaning on getting red eyed
-
The male wood duck is among the most colorful and beautiful of ducks; however, it is harder to approach and much shyer than other ducks. I was happy to get this shot and will continue to hope for better ones in the future.

... well Funny Duckling is how my husband described these critters that were waddling round the campsite in Tournai, Belgium. Actually its a Crested Call Duckling, unless I am mistaken. A lucky opportunistic shot of this cutie!

The Mandarin Duck (Aix galericulata), or just Mandarin, is a medium-sized perching duck, closely related to the North American Wood Duck. It is 41-49 cm long with a 65-75 cm wingspan. The adult male is a striking and unmistakable bird. It has a red bill, large white crescent above the eye and reddish face and “whiskers”. The breast is purple with two vertical white bars, and the flanks ruddy, with two orange “sails” at the back. The female is similar to female Wood Duck, with a white eye-ring and stripe running back from the eye, but is paler below, has a small white flank stripe, and a pale tip to its bill.

This duck really put on a performance as I was photographing it. He reminded me of a music conductor in charge of a beautiful symphony orchestra, hence the name, Maestro.
