The best or the easiest thing in my mind to do when one is for the first time in Dublin is to take your pick of the tours that do the trotting for you while you can take in the various sights and then go back later on to the ones that you want to have a closer look into.

This is an allegorical (ish) poem written about Dublin. Mainly it deals with the city as a woman who has been used and abused so much that she either forgets how to care for her children or spoils them into indulgence.

A tribute to my GGG Grandmother, Bridget Eslin, who arrived as a convict aboard the Sugarcane in 1793 from Dublin and married my GGG Grandfather, Robert Hobbs (Convict per “Active” 1791) As bizzare as it may seem I was nicknamed Bridget while growing up, never knowing my ancestry until just recently. Since finding out about Bridget and her hard life I have felt a special bond with her. She is buried in the old Pitt Town Cemetery with her husband although Bridget is not mentioned on his headstone. Their land grant can still be seen as you approach Pitt Town near the Pitt Town Lagoon.
