  • Last one of these, I promise! Also see Twirled and Twirled Again. (I’m real creative with names and stuff.) This time I kept seeing it as some undersea creature/plant, so I gave it a green tint. Please see my Etsy listing for this image – and purchase a pearlescent metallic print of this beautiful photograph!

  • A shot of some flower stems and buds that reminded me of space and the cosmos. And then of CS Lewis and his Space Trilogy, for some reason. I have yet to read it. But I love the name of that book. Please see my Etsy listing for this image – and purchase a pearlescent metallic print of this mysterious image. • Ok so everyone is probably sick of all my flood filter photos but I’m having way too much fun! This is my girlfriend’s kitten Jaguar, this shot was taken in her backyard in autumn and I thought it would make for a good subject for a flood filter. Also changed the hue and saturation of her eyes in Photoshop, other minor changes such as slight cropping done in Lightroom.

  • The first image in the Dreamcatcher series. These were taken early one foggy and soggy morning as the sun rose to shine through the dewdrops. Please see my Etsy listing for this image – and purchase a pearlescent metallic print of this beautiful image. Please take a look at the calendar Everyday Mysteries, which features this photograph. The two others in the Dreamcatcher series are Prose and Meteor.

  • A great blue heron patiently waits for dinner to pass by as he rests on a rocky ledge in the middle of the Moira River in Belleville, Ontario. This is the first black & white image I’ve posted using my new 100-400mm lens. It was also my first visit to this particular location to shoot waterfowl. Although I liked the color version, I was drawn to this black & white version more. Camera Details: / Canon Rebel EOS XTi with Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM Lens @ 400mm. SS 1/320, ISO 200, f/5.6. Shot in RAW and converted to monochrome in Digital Photo Professional. SHOT HANDHELD using the rail along the walkway for stability. I will NOT be hand holding this lens for long periods of time. • Male rose-breasted grosbeak photograph taken on my property in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. This was the first time I’d ever seen one here. I always get excited when a new bird visits :) Image taken with a Canon EOS Rebel XTi and 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens. ISO 200, f/5.6, AP Mode, SS 1/640. Grosbeak info. courtesy of Wikipedia / The Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Pheucticus ludovicianus, is a large seed-eating bird in the cardinal family, Cardinalidae. The adult is 19 cm (7.5 in) long and weighs 47 g (1.7 oz). It has dark upperparts, white underparts and a large pale bill. The adult male has a black head, wings and upperparts and a bright rose-red patch on its breast; the wings have white patches and rose red linings. The adult female has dark grey upperparts, a white stripe over the eye, streaked underparts and yellowish wing linings. The song resembles a more refined version of the American Robin’s. The call is a sharp pink. The Rose-breasted Grosbeak’s breeding habitat is open deciduous woods across most of Canada and the eastern United States. • Featured in Canon DSLR, August 8, 2009. / Featured in Songbirds of North America, August 8, 2009. Featured in the Woman Photographer August 6, 2009 Female Northern Cardinal image taken on my property, in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada on August 5, 2009. Male mate to this lovely female. / Canon EOS Rebel XTi with 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens @ 320mm. SS 1/125, f/5.6, EC -1/3, ISO 400 (How it turned out with this shutter speed, through a window, AND hand held is beyond me!...lol) Tonal adjustments completed in Digital Photo Professional & PShop. Northern Cardinal info. courtesy of Wikipedia. The Northern Cardinal is a mid-sized songbird with a body length of 20-23 centimeters long and a wingspan of 25–31 centimeters. It weighs about 45 grams. The male is slightly larger than the female. The male is a brilliant crimson red with a black face mask over the eyes, extending to the upper chest. The color is dullest on the back and wings. The female is fawn, with mostly grayish-brown tones and a reddish tint on the wings, the crest, and the tail feathers. The face mask of the female is gray to black and is less defined than that of the male. Both sexes possess prominent raised crests and bright coral-colored beaks. Mated pairs sometimes sing together before nesting. During courtship they may also participate in a bonding behavior where the male collects food and brings it to the female, feeding her beak-to-beak. If the mating is successful, this mate-feeding may continue throughout the period of incubation. The oldest wild Cardinal banded by researchers lived at least 15 years and 9 months.
