  • Reaper is a Fifie sailing herring drifter, the most popular design of fishing boat on the East Coast of Scotland for the greater part of the 19th and early 20th centuries. She is shown here moored in the little harbour at South Queensferry, Scotland, where the public were invited aboard to view the boat and the museum display in the fish hold. Related shots can be found at: South Queensferry, Boats and Lowland Scotland. Best viewed Larger.

  • I took this shot at The San Mateo Event Center in the lawn. Our daughter was performing in a cheerleading competition there both days this weekend. To calm the nerves I stepped outside to take some macro shots. By the way they took the national title in their division.

  • Ok, I decided to Photoshop the color version of this picture. I love the contrast of this picture.

  • I discovered a wonderful book of coastal nautical photos, from 1850 – 1920. The long Eastern coast of England, from the Scottish border, down to the inlet of The Wash, at Norfolk. So I now have targets – and a new series imminent! This one is Berwick (on the Scottish border) from the Victorian era of early photos. The drifter on the left is the ‘Iona’, next to it without sail, is the ‘Nellie Wilson’, and the boat with the chimney, is the paddle steam tug, ‘Black Prince’. / in the background, is the old Berwick Bridge. 7”x8” Watercolour on 200lb Hannemuhle paper.

  • Digital Painting Large view recommended Dimensions: 3863×3000

  • This is a painting by my friend, Maria Hawthorne. / Maria has been painting occcaisionally since childhood, but has not painted for many years. It was painted at my suggestion, from the book of old sailing ship photos, which I am currently working from. A drifter and topsail schooner, lie in the mud in old Whitby. / The ruins of the priory are on the distant hill Watercolour 12”x8”.

  • Best viewed LARGE for halftone detail.

  • Enlighten in a flash / From a series where I work to express the deepest emotions, both positive and “negative”. This is a composite. First image is almost untouched and created with long exposure with a flashlight. Second layer is worked in CS. Both blended and mixed in CS. For the image on the main layer I try to keep the Photoshop-work to a minimum to not loose the ethereal energy the method some times captures. inspired by With You – With Me Lyrics —-—-—-—- Can I see you for a moment / Can I sit with you a while / I know it’s late / But everything is late All my life I’ve been a drifter / And that’s how you know me, too / I’ve never seen / Tomorrow’s view All along I hear this song / That something else some day will come along / Late, but suddenly, I know what I must do / I didn’t see it coming / I didn’t know it was you The days are high / And the nights are deep / and I can feel it moving in me / and nothing’s like it used to be / With you – with me You may have seen me live my life / Sometimes I’ve lived for fun / It’s easy said… / Not so easy done You may have watched me in the moonlight / Falling from the sky / Like every dreamer / Can go to high And all along I hear this song / That something else one day will come along / Seamless night / To find you by my side / I didn’t see it coming / My ever drifting mind The days are high.. / —-—-—-— This is my way to healing and selfrealization. If my work can give something to an other human being it´s many times worth the effort. Thanks for stopping by and look into my world for a minute. ...roy

  • The Mustang kicked the bucket but hell, I wouldn’t miss the breakfast this diner makes. Would you get me a coffee, Annie?

  • A Dandelion Clock with dew. The watermark is only present for on screen viewing.

  • I am a lonely wanderer / On my way towards death. / I love the clarity of air / Each time I take a breath. I love the friends who walk with me / And then must go their way. / I love the rose at dawn and dusk / That celebrates each day. I love to laugh at all the things / That do not know they’re fun, / And weep at all the things that wound / And shrivel up the sun. I never saw my father’s face / And will not have a child, / But even so, I share with you / My joy, wind-whipped and wild. - Nicholas Gordon
