Uluru is an amazing place, filled with rich vibrant colour and steeped in tradition and story time. I took this photo on my last trip to Uluru. The sunrise had just finished and the tourist buses were beginning to leave. This gave me a great opportunity to capture the rich colour at this time of day but without the crowds. To add another element to the composition I decided to include the Kangaroo Road Sign. / / Photo Taken: 29-Nov-2005 / Time: Early, 7:30am / Conditions: Beautiful clear morning / / / / / / / / / / Some other Australian Red Centre art: / / / /

Since time immemorial, the Way to the Tjukurritja (Dreamtime) has been maintained and honoured through various rites-of-passage, and an ensuing disciplined life that revolved around necessary sacred ritual. Instructions from the “agents” (Ancestral Beings) of the Kurrunpa (the life force in all), were entrusted to the initiated; the enlightened, and the custodial. Often, these “messianic-like” people, living within the context of their societies and respective territories, were referred to as “people of High Esteem” … the medicine wo/men and Law men of their respective communities. With the advent and embracing of the Agricultural; Industrial; Scientific and Techno-logical Ages respectively, coupled with the spread of the resultant “Lost Tribes” and colonisation, the demise of knowledge-enabled aboriginal peoples of this world is now upon us. Some of the essential elements of Tjukurritja Tjukurrpa (Dreamtime Story) have survived in the newer societies, though much is lost through the tyranny of distance, erosion, eradication, exploitation, and the evolvement and enforcement of earth-bound time. Even though there have been many attempts to encapsulate and explain the Tjukurritja’s vitalness in definitive terms, the Dreamtime has evaded contemporary analysis and continues to elude the intelligentsia and the selfish “seekers” of the civilised world. ~ Excerpted from my short essay Before Its Gone

According to Indigenous Culture, The Soul is made up of three parts. This ephemeral painting relates to the first…The Ego Soul whose Spirit is bound to the material planes of life involving relationships, responsibilities and pleasure. There are times when many people strive to maintain an earthly illusion of permanency and forget that our stay in but brief. Each gift of time let’s me see that freedom is within My Dreamtime. There is alot of information in this painting, pertaining to regurgitation and transformation, which is symbolic of transition from one state to another and is often built into rituals to aid transportation of the initiate to a higher Spiritual level. Acrylics, inks, pigment and enamel.
We’re living on the edge of The Dreamtime, / just a breath away from the Dream. / We’ve written the script, so that we can get hip, / and now we’re playing “the Game”. I’d faltered on the lip of the abyss, / left of the rights of ignorant rats. We’re living on the edge of the Dreamtime, / just a step away from the Serene. / We’re balancing on the tip of our Nightmare, / while clinging to our world of false dreams. I fought the battle of instant insanity, / in the fear and the still of an asylum’s night. / And stepped-out of the darkness of my ignorance, / with an in-formed prognosis called insight. My people, the world, the beautiful boys and the girls, / the black and the white and the frail, / sleep through their lives with desirous eyes, / as their beliefs encourage their greed. As we fall off the Edge, then mayhap maybe / we’ll renew our pledge to grow in the flow / of love-in da light. So interpret your Dreaming - / as dark-hearts grow scheming - / enwrapped in the knowing of another place, / deeper within your inner-Space. Yes, we’re living on the edge of the Dreamtime; / as long as we remain in Be-leaving. ... [if you’d like to see a larger view of this, view here ]
Sunset Dreaming. A real Australian sunset. Bushfire smoke enhances the colours of this untouched photo.
This is back from exile, a change in My Bubble direction. On my drive back to work(Gold Coast to Yulara) I got to stop ever so briefly here and managed to take a few photos before getting behind the wheel for the last driving stint. Would have loved to see this place in different light but time was a factor. The Devil’s Marbles, Northern Territory. I will return one day.

Another in Skye’s neo-primitive series with Australian Aboriginal influences. This design features a diving Dolphin, a creature often associated with mythologies in coastal civilisations around the World, including Australia. This design was first hand-painted onto rock then photographed to produce this print effect. “Dolphin Dreaming” is one of my early works in the 3D painting medium I created a few years ago. I consider this series my tribute to the many happy years I lived in Australia as a nearly starving artist :o-) 25% proceeds benefit the great wildlife protection group WildlifeDirect.org / Thanks for viewing my designs. ~ Skye
