“Mimesis” / It’s a word the ancient Greeks used to denote their love of copying nature to perfection, the bronze statues were found in the ocean off the coast of Riace, near Reggio Calabria Italy, they don’t know how they got there and took 8 years to restore them, but they are the best ancient Greek bronzes to ever make it through time. the Female is the viewer beholder, we are looking at her the modern contemporary idea of beauty, as she is looking upon the scene and the ancient idea of beauty, the fish are reminiscing of where the statues lay for thousands of years and are like swimming through time. If you were looking at the actual painting you could see the hairs on her arms, and the oxidation in the bronzes. / the architecture is dated from about the same time 450 bc as the bronze statues.

I did this one last night …I have just been going into my mind trying to let go of bad moments and sift though the good stuff ….I guess find the magic I love the water ..always have …and when I was younger i found the back of someones property that had the best dock I could sit on ….I would sit there some morning and think being lost at sea would be the best thing ….sailing to differenrt lands as they came …..it was my time that I could relax laying on my stomach hands in the water and think peaceful thoughts of a life much bigger than mine. 14”x11” on wood panel

The Choice / Love should never be a choice. While man attempts to recreate his universe through science, emulating God, or the First creation; at the core, each of us struggles with daily choices that seem to eclipse the math and science pulsing through a network of logic. Are choices of the heart logical or divinely inspired, impetuous or practical, or do these rather define constraints of the mind? Should the heart always win over the thought process, or does one inform the other? By our divine nature, women have a choice, to follow our heart, head, will, or spirit. Each day for the next seven days I’ll be posting a new image (and maybe an old favorite) from my ongoing collaboration with the gifted and much-admired blithe spirit Autismmom (aka AutismMom2.) One of her self-portraits was recently critiqued on redbubble as “sensual yet sensitive, beautiful.” Autismmom’s timeless and trancendent look could be woven seamlessly into a Renaissance painting or a black and white glamor shot that evokes memories we wish we had of Paris in the forties…and has been (by me!)
