  • This is a reflection of autumn grapevine leaves on a bedroom window taken in late afternoon light. I took a long time to position the camera on a tripod to create a balanced composition of the reflection and my daughter. She loves reading, so the frown is one of intense concentration, not unhappiness. Not a double exposure! Taken with Velvia and a Nikon F4. Scan by Jeremy Daalder.

  • / “Dreaming of Tomorrow” is part of the Abstract Winter collection...I was looking outside this morning at the grey winter day, and though I love painting snow, when it’s bleak like today, I start to dream of spring and green and trees full of leaves…I had to go downstairs and paint… Dreaming of Spring on a bleak Winter’s day…dreaming of Love that may come your way….dreaming alone of dreams past and gone…dreaming of dreams that come with the Sun...Janis Watercolour on Fabriano Artistico Hot Pressed Paper… Hold fast to dreams / For if dreams die / Life is a broken-winged bird / That cannot fly. / Hold fast to dreams / For when dreams go / Life is a barren field / Frozen with snow...Langston Hughes

  • What could be more beautiful to a photographer and gardener than to dream that they are in an old fashioned garden, the air is warm and golden colored and butterflies are everywhere! I invite you to stretch out, take a deep breath and close your eyes. If you wish, you could find yourself in my old fashioned garden, let the golden light bathe your senses and quiet you. Perhaps if you stretch out your hand, that butterfly will perch on your finger, furthering your sense of relaxation. Awww….relax….zzzzzzz! These are roses in my garden, the butterfly was added as a composite, I used a Dream Effects filter to make it look like a dream. Rose image taken in my garden in Shady Cove, Oregon

  • Made in UltraFractal 5 for a Rainbow contest at deviantart. Dreams are elusive things, beautiful when glimpsed out of the corner of our eye, but slippery when we try to grasp them. I think they are best when we are chasing them because they can be anything we want them to be. These here are sometimes flowers and other times butterflies, flitting away. 11/26/09 – Featured in the DIGITAL ABSTRACTS AND PATTERNS Group.

  • This image was inspired by the well known “Dream a Little Dream of Me”, the song usually credited to Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt, with lyrics by Gus Kahn. It was recorded by Wayne King and his Orchestra with vocal by Ernie Birchill on February 18, 1931 and released by Victor Records as catalogue number 22643. It was a top 20 hit for Frankie Laine in 1950. Later notably sung by Doris Day (who, in 1957, was the first singer to record it at the slow tempo in which it had been written), Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. It is arguably best known for the rendition by “Mama” Cass Elliot of The Mamas & the Papas, in 1968, which sold over a million copies. Although my vision is more on the romantic/idealistic feel of the song, I couldnt resist but to add the link to one of Mama Cass performances of this song. Come and see here. The lyrics: / “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” Stars shining bright above you / Night breezes seem to whisper “I love you” / Birds singin’ in the sycamore tree / Dream a little dream of me Say nighty-night and kiss me / Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me / While I’m alone and blue as can be / Dream a little dream of me Stars fading but I linger on dear / Still craving your kiss / I’m longing to linger till dawn dear / Just saying this Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you / Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you / But in your dreams whatever they be / Dream a little dream of me
