A man was born with a dream. / A dream for all mankind, for every person. A man of peace. A man with a dream that all people would be created equal. / This man I am talking about is Martin Luther King Jr. / As part of the world celebrates his birthday. / I was a child living in Memphis Tennessee. We had just moved to Memphis in March. I was only four at the time, but I remember it well that April evening. / News of his assassination rang throughtout the city and then the world on April 4th 1968. / I remember the National Guard patroling the streets in their armoured trucks. I remember the curfew that was put on the city, and my step father coming in late at night raising cain he had been stopped yet again coming home from his second job. / I remember being in segregated schools. / Growing up in Memphis as it came to terms that all people are created equal, all people had a right to live in good homes in nice neighborhoods, going to good schools. / Gradually the schools became de-segregated, as Martin’s message lived strong and loud in the city and throughout the country. / As this man was not only for the black race, he was for all races. All the people, everyone who has a dream. His message still lives on 40years later, as we are about to accept our first black man as president. / We as a whole need to heed that message everyday. We need to look past a person’s skin color to decide what type of person they are, we need to look into their souls. A color doesnt make the person, their morals, the way they treat others is what makes a person. / Our country took a huge step in November of 2008. It finally showed Martin that we have overcome, we have finally looked past the skin color, we are learning to accept others as they are. I will always feel the message goes past the United States, it should go around the world. / Our goals are the same, regardless of our race, our religious beliefs, our choices of partners, or where we live. I have always felt Martin’s message rings more for all the people around the world rather than in America. / Prejudice doesnt just happen here in the states, it happens all over the world. I would like to see in my lifetime, were someone is based on their merit then their skin color, beliefs, lifestyle. We are all related somehow in someway. It is time to start looking for the good in the strangers you meet instead of fearing them. It is time to have a smile in your eyes when you walk past someone in the street you dont know. It is time to put the trust back, and let the fear go. / We can all have the same dream Martin had 40years ago, if we truely want it. / It’s time for peace. / This song came out in the early seventies, I think it sums it up quite well. / Keep the dream, and pass the peace / Abraham, Martin, and John

I am about 3 plus months into Zazzle :D I want to mention special thanks to Ujean for being that constant beacon of light for me at zazzle…for those who are in Zazzle, maybe like me,you may feel like a small fish in the ocean,so tiny and lost there at times. Hey thanks Peter and everyone for putting my and Rebecca Zachariah’s work on the home page. / / I just want to say two things. First of all Rebecca deserves most of the praise. (I just helped with post processing). She took the shot in Rwanda when we were travelling over there. It was the shot of the trip as far as I’m concerned. Better than any of my 3,000. Yes 3,000! / The other thing is, the guys at RB and I haven’t always agreed. They’ve put up with some complaints from me. (Is that a groan I hear from you Peter!) But they have ALWAYS answered respectfully and honestly. Allowing us to agree to disagree or whatever and move on. / I just want to say publicly I really rate that. / So thanks. / And then to follow up by putting this shot on the home page is awesome. Perhaps this potential threat that we pose to ourselves and to others is one of the reasons we are soon to be warned to alter our course; to transcend our destructive tendencies, become more enlightened, and develop in a more harmonious and compatible way. People are beginning to awaken spiritually and realize that everything is connected, that God and the creative force is within us and we are within it. That we need a new, more truthful, paradigm that allows us to be more loving, forgiving, peaceful, and whole. That we are co-creators of our future and of our perception of truth and reality. That we are all One, and that globally we are all One Family, and we should act accordingly, with an attitude of respect, dignity, and equality of value toward each other, the Earth, and toward all of life. Free will is a universal quality or characteristic that all high-level life shares, so these important choices are up to us. If good people work together we can overcome our cultural differences, embrace the vast diversity of life, solve our global problems, and change our evolutionary direction toward a more healthy and productive outcome. It is by intuition and the inspiration of Julie Marks’ latest works that I write this entry. / So either my intuition is way off kilter-caused by the voices inside my head-or what I have to say has credibility and merit and should be considered carefully… The project begins with the construction of the finest homeless shelter in the country—”Illumination House“-one that would be a model for a chain of homeless shelters across the nation. The construction of the shelter would involve those individuals who are already homeless but have skills of general laborers and/or contractors. The project would be overseen by a contractor who would have a supervisor to see to the operation and organization of the laborers. Laborers would be paid the same wage as any other laborer with the same experience. The shelter would consist of sixty rooms—much like a hotel, and like a hotel would have running water in each room. Fifty-five rooms would be used to house the homeless; the other five rooms would be for staff members and security. There would be a meeting hall—where people would meet once a week so that staff and homeless members could go over their daily progress that is conditioned to getting the homeless into homes of their own. There would be an activity hall. A laundry facility; and each person would be given clean socks, underwear, and products for personal hygiene, once a week, along with a gratuity check of $25.00 every week. There would be a kitchen and dining facility. And there would be a chapel—however, those that are to be brought in to speak, would first be evaluated by the Director to determine if the message is going to be encouraging, or discouraging to those homeless members. I lean more toward the Unitarian Universalists, rather than the Fundamentalists; they would not be allowed to preach in the shelter—I don’t care how much fire and brimstone they use… There would be work-programs available, and programs that teach Computer Jobs Training, Construction, Small Engine Repair, and Financing. There would also be a program for people to encourage further education, and the opportunity to get GED. The idea here is not to try and keep the shelter full, but to find ways to encourage those individuals that are homeless from breaking the cycle of their current condition, so as to allow others to do the same. Those who enter the shelter would be recognized to be on a 90-day program—30 days of which would be probationary. If people are genuinely interested in getting back on their feet, they would have no problem with the program. Substance abuse of course would not be tolerated, and would be grounds for immediate eviction, as would be fighting, or carrying weapons. I realize that the probability of back-sliding exists, and people who exhibit good intentions, that find themselves back-sliding will not be dealt with harshly; rather they will be given several opportunities—including rehab; if in the event the solutions offered don’t work, the person unfortunately will be forced to leave the premises, until such a time as they can show themselves to be clean and sober. That is my plan to alleviate homelessness in the country. I’ve offered a solution; the rest is up to us… In closing: I don’t want a grant from the government, rather I would like to be successful enough where I can afford the project from mine own finances, which means I have to be a million-dollar best-selling author; I don’t consider that an impossibility-just an improbability; but that wholly depends on whether or not people are interested in my work enough to buy my books. You see, I already have one out there-“Pariah” which can be purchased at Amazon, and which you are probably not aware of due to the lack of my current publisher’s attempt at promoting and representing my work. Be that as it may, this is my dream-to build “Illumination Houses”-and if I get rich off my work, the dream will be a reality… Warmest Regards to All, / ^V~
