About this image / I created this self-portrait while at a crossroads in my life. views: 3424 / favs: 52 Completed 2004 age 18 I was inspired by the Japanese artist Hiroshi Senju, who tends to limit his colors in his paintings. Sometimes he paints an image where the background is the complimentary colors of the subject. His style is simple but at the same time intense, where the foreground stands out from the complimentary background. Medium: Watercolors This is a painting done in my sketchbook. The paper isn’t watercolor paper, but at least more durable than regular printing paper. A kind of surreal image of a stream in the winter with a few ps adjustments to give it that surreal look of an image in a dream. I love this stream but the picture itself did not look as good as it could have-I love all the tiny rivers and streams around where I live they always seem so enchanted! Some new tomorrow / by Anaisnais In death we departed, / you knew your time had come. / Your body rose to meet last breath, / then sunk again, to hold / forever’s peace within your chest. Such frozen coldness set your bones, / grey/blue lips, syanosis undertones; / and what for me to do next, / but search your soul, / which lies not in your breast? Confused, perplexed, / I know you do not sleep; / but watch the world go by. / Not in the casket buried 6 foot deep, / yet in my heart and mind.
