Belief, hope and imagination are perhaps the three most important ingredients in life (love is a given). It’s been said that a picture needs not be explaind, but I want to tell how I arrived to the version you see. I was looking at the picture as I took it and, from a certain bent of my imagination, I had the impression it looked a bit like a bird with the wings spread in flight. And that inspired me to give the original a “magic touch” and make it look more like a dream flight. The transition into blur and B&W would like to depict the undefined boundaries between the normal awareness state and the dream state, that particular place or state where anything and everything is possible and where all the miracles of creation happen: the land between the ordinary and the miraculous. Echinacea purpurea (purple coneflower) with a dark twist. This was the first of my Dark Dreams flower series, most of which I have pulled from redbubble. It was also one of my first images here. Obviously it was photoshoped. I get a lot of questions about why there are scratches on it, it was to give it an old aged look. The texture would make it a great canidate for a canvas print… hint hint ;) This is the original: / I believe this is the largest image in my portfolio, and that is because it was taken with my old 35 mm SLR, then scanned in (I have a really good scanner that scans really big) If you are seeing this image in a group for the first time, that is because I just realized it wasn’t in any groups! I must have cleared it out to make room for newer stuff. This peice was my very first one chosen on the Featured Art page and was featured in Ebony and Ivory group. After a summer storm, this rainbow appeared in the pasture behind our house. My daughter followed me out into the field while I took a few pictures and then we both turned to walk back in. When I glanced back at her she was still peering up into the sky at the rainbow and something about that moment really captured my heart as I became acutely aware of how transient both rainbows and childhood are. Her reluctance to turn her back on the stunning beauty that was still suspended in the sky was a reminder to me that we must never turn our back on childhood dreams. / / “Childhood Dreams” was the winning photograph submitted to Midwest Living Magazine which awarded me with the prize of a Flip video! Title thanks to my husband… I was stumped and when I asked my husband for a suggestion for the title he said the daisies were natures beauty and shone amongst a gloomy winters day, which to him is the essence of winter. This pretty bridge is along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal in South Wales UK. I went walking along there one Summers day a few months ago. I was actually looking for ducks to photograph. As I turned a bend in the canal, there before my eyes was this beautiful small stone bridge. It looked like something out of a fairy tale. It was nestled among the trees in the soft sunlight and reflecting its beauty in the water below. I sat on a bench for a while just looking at it and snapping a few pics, forgetting all about the ducks I originally went in search of. I must go back there when it snows so I can see it in all its winter glory. / /
