I just wanted to make a comment , please read the guidelines of the the groups, For example Drawn to cotton is a group for artists and illustrators who do their OWN drawings by hand or vector NOT photos or found images. Sorry I do not mean to sound pushy :) but there is no point having a group if it’s everything chucked in. / Please do not get upset if I remove work that does not fit the group. / cheers

I am planning on releasing a new series of shirts/art posters that is in a completely different style than I usually follow. They are still vectors (just can’t seem to get away from Illustrator) but are tracings of some sketched collage’s, so they feel very personal. I have been wanting to explore this style for a while but have been afraid/lazy when it comes to hand drawing things out on paper… Anyway, I hope you like what you see, but more importantly, I hope that you leave feedback/criticism because that is such an important aspect when making artistic explorations. Also, I wanted to thank everyone for your wonderful comments so far, I haven’t been with RB very long but I already feel like a member of this community; it has been a wonderful experience for me. / Cheers, / Jerad—DesignbySolo

I am an american painter of light and joy. I am a fan of architecture and currently working on drawings and paintings of vanishing historic American buildings and landscape. I am attracted bright color, bold contrast, and the spirituality in all things. I am enjoying my career as a succesful professional working artist, entrepenuer, author and visionary. I look forward to sharing my story and art with you. I hope to use this journal to share with you some of the success tools I have used over the years that can be benificial and time saving. Of course any of us can be shown the doorway to success and even have that doorway held open for us, but it is up to each one of us to walk through that doorway. RD Riccoboni

I’m posting this a few days late because I have been a busy-busy-bee lately and have had no time at all to update my journal and blog. So, Drawing Day ‘08 came an went like Los Angeles rush hour, but it was fun none-the-less. I was Drawing and uploading all day long! However, I did have a hint of trouble uploading my stuff to my RB Gallery because of all this mess RB was creating for me. It is slowly working its way out but I still get those little hiccups from time to time. Anyways, I wanted to share some pieces that I drew on Drawing Day ‘08. I uploadedall of them to my Red Bubble T-Shirt Gllery: What did you draw on Drawing Day ‘08? Share your stuff in my comments section! Cheers! ~ b.chris

  • Introducing Lars: hand drawn type queen

I recently had a chat with Lars for the t-shirt blog and I thought that seeing as she’s such a talent, I’d whip up a journal so I could share the interview with those who may not have caught it. Lars stuns me again and again with her hand drawn type skills and quirky illustration style. We have featured her you, me, we t-shirt before on the blog and recently she took the top spot in the hand drawn typography competition with her pretty lady tee. I asked Lars if she would mind giving us some insight into what makes her tick and just how she became such a talented individual. Good news for us. She said yes! / / / / / / Which of your tees are you most proud of? “Prism Party”, I love pastel colours and I’m a fan of slightly nerdy mathematical things & also “Lost your pen?” because I just think its cute, and slightly sad, I feel the plain of it! How long do you usually spend on a design? Two hours at the most, it takes me awhile because I don’t have any nifty gadgets like a Wacom, I have to draw things up, scan, photoshop it, print it, then fix things… and so on, which gets frustrating, i tend to lose motivation half way through. How do you motivate yourself? As soon as I wake up I drink Chai Tea and It just wakes me up and makes me want to design and do all sorts of things, id say it gives me superpowers. Were you a creative kid? If so, what’s your earliest creative memory? Yeh, very creative, a lot more creative than I am now! I used to enter all the competitions in the Sunday Telegraph and go to Art Camps, I won so much stuff, the best thing I ever won was 100 boxes of The Simpsons Instant Macaroni, I can still taste it. What creative skill would you most like to have? I would love to be able to draw well, all my drawings are more like primary school scribbles rather than illustrations, so im thinking of taking some drawing classes What’s your pet design/illustration hate? Seeing people post “designs” that look like they were pasted together on paint. And these days im getting a bit tired of seeing polaroid inspired things, don’t get me wrong I love them, I have my own stash, but its become SO popular that in my eyes its lost its novelty and its sense of nostalgia. If you could pick one person to have as a mentor, who would it be? Reg Mombassa would be fun just because he is such an icon here in Australia, and he has a sense of humor in his art. Any advice for aspiring illustrators or designers? If you are having creative block… just do whatever first comes into your head, doesn’t matter if its silly. And everything around you can be inspiration! Sounds like good advice to me. A big thanks to Lars for the chat. We can’t wait to see more of her work on the bubble soon!

  • Behind the scenes - new direction and process...

Hey again peoples! It’s been quiet on the Bub for me as I have been redeveloping my style and design work. I have headed back in the direction of the pen – and the amazing paper. Yep. I know. DEEP. But really what I have been going back to is my style of drawing. Naturally I don’t like to draw sketchy lines and then re-draw over them again, instead, i like to draw the FINISHED solid lines in one shot. This may sound like an unreachable goal, but that is why my subject matter is so important. For me to create an image without re-drawing over the same lines, I have to be drawing something that is from my imagination. I usually drawn a curve on the page and let it go from there. it may end up being an eye, a leg, hair who knows! But in most cases it will be a monster of some kind, as there are no rules to monsters! I think the best example of my direction is MAMBO clothing. / Drawing a bowl of fruit on the table in front of me is just not possible as I would have to do a basic sketch first to get the correct shapes, and then go over it a few times to perfect the lines. Urgh, not my idea of fun. So, with help from this nifty little program called Photoshop (have you heard of it? lol) I have been able to draw the way I want (one shot solid lines) and then put them into photoshop 9and also Illustrator) and clean up the lines. Yes, I do re-draw the lines with the Pen Tool, but as this is non destructive, i consider it to be a simple and fun task. My first image with this process of drawing has now been added to threadless for voting (heres hoping) and I am extremely happy with the results. My inspiration is the talented folk over at Emptees.com and all their goo, bones, skulls and zombie designs – cool. i will definitely have a lot more goo in my designs..you can thank JUMPY for this! LEGEND! So here is the design, drawn without the ‘sketchy-ness’ that I refer to - Now here it is vectored of course – Now remember, this was drawn once on paper with no sketchy-ness, and then drawn again with the Pen Tool – its like a simple 2 step process for me. Ah. Love. You will notice a few characters missing, and also you should notice the change in emotion – they are now all angry! lol, I thought that would be better. So I will be doing more like this, drawing on paper first and then vectoring them, just like I will do with this one in some time in the future…sneak peek… ok guys, keep in touch! As some of you may know I am moving to melbourne in Dec so my design work will slow for a while over that break until i get the net…urgh…might be ages…and I can’t survive without the net…but Im just glad Im still chasing dreams. Long live GO GETTERS. peace and love, Diesel

Hello Everyone, / I’ve just now launched my new website, www.SiennaMorris.com . It’s so much easier to remember than my last and I’m much happier with it. All of my news events and updated artwork will be up on the website, so feel free to check back with me. Feedback is welcome; what do you think of my new design? The main image is a recent drawing I did of myself. Speaking of which, I should probably put that up on my site.

Greetings all! :) I have had some really wonderful experiences here on RedBubble. I have sold cards and prints, I have purchased artwork from artists that I admire, I started co-hosting the group Painted Nature , I have had many of my works featured in several groups, I have placed in the top ten in several challenges, I have had my selections chosen for the homepage features (Not my own work…..yet…), I have won RB vouchers for winning a game created by the Halloween group and for winning the Buyer’s Booth Weekly Challenge, but most importantly…... I have met some truly wonderful and talented artists here! The RedBubble community is truly my favorite online community! You all inspire me to puch my creative abilities to the next level and to try new things with my art….I love you all for this! :) Recently, the super talented Jimmy Jack sent me a bubblemail, asking if he could use one of my Faery Photos as reference for his next drawing. Of COURSE I said he could! I sent him several different shopts so that he would have some options. He chose a photo, started the drawing, and he and his wife, BellaStarr , kept me posted throughout the process with previews. I logged in this morning and there it was, Jimmy’s completed Graphite Drawing of ME! :) I am so honored that an artist like this would choose to use me as reference! :) Thank you Jimmy, you ROCK! :) Click on the pics or the link above to see his page and purchase this print! /
