  • The title is supposed to be lower- case. Inspired by floating cats, I suppose. : > and imagination- but, no….I created this thinking about the oxymoron of becoming an adult, and the children I see today, wearing makeup and talking on cellphones who should be enjoying childhood, not adulthood. Perhaps I am being illusional? But, in spite of it, it saddens and frustrates me when I see little girls and boys who are trying to grow up so fast…. and i don’t think it’s so much children to blame, but, i believe, it’s the media…. / how frustrating! i remember when climbing trees and playing on a playground when you’re twelve was considered normal. but, enough ranting! / Done in photoshop : >

  • I see faces or scenes in the patterns of fabrics, the folds of the curtains, etc…just about anywhere. This time it was on a cinder brick. Pencil and charcoal drawing over the photo of the brick.

  • The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by me SBC, with my painting, and drawings. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda through my eyes. This art won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. It is presently being considered for exhibition at the Royal Navy Dockyard Museum in Bermuda. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!

  • Taking a break from the Capriccios while I decide if the series is complete. / I painted the house years earlier than I got the new ink. / In light that I consider myself fairly perceptive I did not see the similarity between the walls and my skin for months after.

  • Everything on the walls behind the kid is work that I did either in grade school or high school. Yes, I still have EVERYTHING that I did back then. It’s taking over every nook and cranny in my house, much to the chagrin of my loving wife. What can I say, I’m sort of a pack rat. Do I really need the cartoons I scribbled on my math homework when I was eight? No. Am I going to keep it anyway? You better believe it.

  • 100% digital free. / The brooch has a sheath that holds the knife. From the series & limited edition book: ‘Evidence’ / Details: / http://lauren-rabbit.deviantart.com/journal/18842732/

  • Walking towards the edge of a once flattened world, he realized his species sometimes need another consciousness which feels and sees the imaginary but possible paths living in more dimensions nowadays offers… That expedition sometimes requires to see things differently… In Einsteins world time is change… Nothing seems to be obvious. Although the boundaries of our imagination also seem to look quite endless I think it still requires more flexibility in looking at things to understand possibilities within change. • A black and white pastel on black acid free paper of the beautiful, cascading Horseshoe Waterfalls, Australia. What delight we felt when we first discovered this. It was located at the end of our street where we used to live and was only a 5 minute walk, that took us to a peaceful place where we could forget the world for a while. It is still only a 10 minute drive away. Waterfalls are usually geological formations resulting from water, often in the form of a stream flowing over an erosion-resistant rock that forms a nickpoint or sudden break in elevation. Whatever the description waterfalls are a natural wonder and there are some breathtaking ones all over the world. The waterfall drops its sparkling veil / covering its rock face leaving slippery trails / twinkling drops of water bursting in the light / its beauty never ending even at night! • I’ve had my nose buried in the art of Da Vinci over the past couple of days, re-familiarizing myself with his mastery. / As much as I love his paintings, it’s his sketchwork that intrigues me the most…... his sketch workups for his paintings have such humanity in them, his invention sketches showing us a tiny glimpse of his genius, & those anatomy sketches giving us some insight into his constant need for knowledge…. Sadly I haven’t drawn anything for almost 5 years, but today the great Master has inspired me to pick up a pen after all this time, & I have to say it feels great! This image began life 12 years ago as a single line drawing hastily sketched as a thought came into my head. I’ve often looked at it with stirrings of interest….. / So today, with visions of Da Vinci & ancient manuscripts in my head I am drawing again . [ sharpie pen on cartridge paper, scanned, worked in PS with my own textures] Featured – Dimensions – July 2009 TOP TEN PLACEMENT – Drawings/Sketches Challenge August 2009 /

The teapot topiary is also a fountain, you can see water pouring out of the spout and a sprinkler at the tippy top.. :) Inspiration / The inspiration came through my parents, who have a topiary teapot and a topiary sugar bowl in their own backyard, the also told me of an amazing topiary garden they visited in Tassie recently. / / Here is the “teapot topiary” in my parents’ backyard, they are sculpting teapots and sugar bowls….there are lots of fun things in my mum and dad’s garden !! Even the Cheshire Cat and Tinman have a spot in the sun there :)

  • Another entry from my leather moleskin journal. This was a reflection on how we’ve all got so many untold stories. I don’t want to go to my grave without passing on my stories that are worth passing on especially if there’s a chance those stories could affect or help another in any positive way. The same goes for my whole family…. I don’t want them passing without me finding out their important untold stories. I still don’t know half as much as I’d like to know about my Grandfather’s prisoner of war days and he passed many a year ago. So that story is with my Dad now and once he’s gone the story will be too. Perhaps I’ll sit down with Dad soon and write it all down? And then there’s so many of my own personal stories that only I, myself know. One’s that Im’ just not ready to share with another yet… whether emotional, physical or spiritual I just can’t put them out there just yet. I am sure one day though I’ll probably be ready to share them. What untold stories do you have that you’d like to make sure get passed on before you die?
