SNOWY OWL from an original watercolor by SHARON SHARPE
Pencil drawing with painted in color using Paint Shop Pro. 8-)
Done in pencil and inks
This 13-1/2” x 10-1/4” pencil drawing is of a little creek which runs about a quarter mile from where we used to live in the foothills of the Elkhorn mountain range in eastern Oregon. This was another project during laid-up days while I was unable to stand and paint at my easel.

2006 Colored Pencil Drawing 18×24 Citrus County Courthouse 1900 is an original 18×24, colored pencil drawing, matted and framed by artist Michael Arnold. The drawing is from a photograph of the old wooden courthouse in Inverness around 1900. The courthouse was replaced by a stone structure in 1912, where Elvis Presley filmed the climatic court scene in Follow That Dream in 1961. / Michael Arnold Art

sigh This time I drew in Photoshop Elements 3, which I JUST realized doesn’t erase the way Paintbrush does. Paintbrush is an itsy-bitsy free program with very few features, but I got used to its amazing powers of forgiveness a few years ago. Not only will it erase whatever you’re working on, even the background, but it also has a little BOMB feature that will obliterate everything on the canvas with one click. Woohooooo!! That’s my absolute favorite tool. Anyway, I’l get used to PSE 3 soon. Maybe these will look better then. Or maybe I’ll find some other excuse for why they don’t? / LOL… / /

EDIT – iv just replaced the old image with a full sized scan :) but this drawing has now taken over as my most viewed on dA :) and again drawn with a 2B mechanical pencil. this was one of my first portraits after getting back into drawing this year, so not quite as technically good as Lily or Emma.
“The Black crow king” “I am the black crow king / The Keeper of the nodding corn / All the hammers are a-talking, all the nails are a-singing / So sweet and low, you can hear it in the valley / Where live the lame and the blind / They climb the hill out of its belly, leave with mean, black boots on” Something about Nick Caves unique face has always intrigued me long before I listened to his music. Everything is all tightly wound around the eyes but as soon as you get to the tip of the nose there’s this droop and mush-mouthness almost like a release from all the tension at the top. If you can in fact read a person by their covering; he is both a highbrow intellectual and ghoul-faced maniac, devilishly handsome, and just plain devilish. And this is an image that marries perfectly with his artistic creations. The Black crow-cage symbolizes the dark subject matter of most of his career while the humming bird represents the songs like “O children” and “Into my arms” that surface every now and then and are beautiful and free of any stage persona.

About This Drawing / This gorge was located on the boundary of the first property my parents owned up here in the Far North – the same place that had the wonderful Gum Trees on the far bank of the river. I spent some great time there with my folks, on holidays from Uni in Auckland. This gorge was a very special place to escape into. Drawn in Auckland from memory using marker pen on newsprint 7×9 in.
