A pencil drawing of the New york skyline by Brooklyn Bridge. This took over a year to draw…and I enjoyed every second :)
This piece was a drawing done in ink. It was originally for a dinner party invite and when I saw how nice the sketch came out I used it for prints! It has been digitally enhanced with color and text. The words are in Italian and loosely mean “Dinner Party” with the time and date. / This print is available as a greeting card or a canvas print…both of which you can frame easily! Thanks for looking! This is a print of one of my “rough” sketches that started out as a tiny doodle in my sketch pad…it turned into something bigger…and I fell in love with it. I just follow my pencil…whatever it does I go with. This was hand drawn and then enhanced digitally to give the piece color. I did not erase my pencil lines because I feel it adds some needed character and personality! I love the green…Im so loving green lately! Anyway, its available for purchase as cards and a canvas print. / Thanks for looking! ~Shelli

Summer Breeze a beautiful poem by the same title by a dear friend of mine Anne Van Alkemade / Inspired by the song Summer Breeze / by Seals and Croft Also inspired by myself and my experience of having bugs and insects come to try and take up residence in my ears… scrabbling around in there, getting all comfy…while I’m going crazy…click beetles, houseflies and spiders so far have all tried this… lol This is a girl who has an affinity with nature, and as the summer breezes begin to blow here in Australia…....the animals are drawn to live in her hair thinking that it must be branches of a tree… yes, my hair’s that dry… :) I thought it a fitting one for summer, hope you like her… Pencil drawing took me about 3 hours / Digital colouring – 10 hours / Total time 13 hours
/ / Original pencil drawing on Aquarelle Arches paper 56×76cm / Drawing 15 hours/painting 12 hours = 27 hours total A digitally painted hand drawn artwork… the inspiration for this is “Meeting Places”... As a child one of the most frequent things we did together as a family was to attend church on Sundays, I went to a Catholic School and the church I remember best was St Agnes’ at Port Macquarie… the nuns would come over for morning tea sometimes, and the priests would come for dinner occasionally…they were the days of fun parish picnics and life that wasn’t so hurried..when we took time to socialise, meeting and enjoying one another’s company. Mum was/is a great cook and host…and although this picture isn’t authentic as a portrait of her and myself…it’s representative. It’s also representative of new life and hope for the future, as the mother figure is with child….. and the child herself nurtures the wildlife…perhaps she is taking them to church for a blessing… perhaps the joey has lost his mother and needs nursing til he can fend for himself. The kookaburra is all seeing and all knowing….. the wise overseer of the bush… in this case, he stands in as the owl figure.

This one has been sitting unfinished on my PC for a few weeks, I was just not sure what I wanted to do with it until last night when I was reminded of the beautiful song “Autumn Leaves”, originally by Edith Piaf (in French, naturally), but beautiful also in its English translation as below. This was one of my favourite songs to sing when I was a teenager and I have wonderful memories of singing this to the beautiful piano accompaniment played by my cousin Anina. :) This is a mixed media piece in which I digitally combined a roller ball drawing I did for the purpose, with a chalk pastel drawing and photographic textures and brushes. Proudly New Zealand-made. :) Featured in Imaginative Realism, Sept 26, 2009. / Featured in Dimensions Oct 11, 2009. / Featured in Inspired Art Oct 18, 2009. Autumn Leaves Artist: Eva Cassidy / English Lyrics by Johnny Mercer and Music by Joseph Kosma The falling leaves drift by my window / The falling leaves of red and gold / I see your lips, the summer kisses / The sunburned hands I used to hold Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall
