  • A quick drawing of Lillies with pastel pencils on black canson paper. A4 In spring time mother nature wakes up from the bleakness of winter. / Lambs frolic in the fields, flowers bloom and we humans start to walk with a spring in our step. Through drawing these flowers I hope to embody the idea of spring. These blooms although predominantly white have a lovely flush of pink in their centres. The blossoming of these beauties symbolizes the changing of the season. I’m hoping that I have been able to capture the vibrant colours and energy that spring evokes.

  • from Aesop’s Fables: A Crow, half-dead with thirst, spied a pitcher and flew to it in joy. But when he arrived, he discovered that only very little water was left in it, and he could not reach far enough down to get at it. He tried evrything he could think of to reach the water, but all his efforts were in vain. Then a thought came to him and he took a pebble and dropped it into the pitcher. he collected as many pebbles as he cold find and dropped them one by one into the pitcher, until the water gradually rose to the brim and he was able to quench his thirst and save his life. • detail of pencil on paper (Arches) drawing, “The Arrival” (ORIGINAL SOLD) The original is shown here / This cropped version lends itself to items here at RedBubble. Some examples of some of the pieces for sale:

  • pencil embellished limited-edition print of pencil drawing “Heliotroped” / (The original drawing was done on standard white layout paper – in a spiral bound tablet – I had to draw it twice because as I went I smeared it and had to redefine the lines the second time out.) See if you can find the poem that was tucked into this print and then sent to me anonymously. Update: Aug. 2, 2009 / I finally located the entire poem today. It was on the back of a Klimt postcard given to me at the same time the print was. / Here it is: .......................................................................................................... “When I met her / she lived, / isolated, / on a narrow lane. She had a wrought-iron fence / with a black rose growing through the gate, / locking it. The rose was groomed beautifully. / The gate it seemed had been locked for years. She would say little about the gate. / But she seemed very proud of the rose. / Eventually, she accepted a gift from me. / The gift was a white seed. A white rose now grows, wild and resisting any grooming. Still, she regards the rose with fear and awe.” ..................................................................................................... Plus there are a few T’s in my Clothing section featuring this image (or parts of it…): / Turned tree T Galactically bent T-shirt Turned solar T-shirt

  • pencil on paper (Arches) drawing (archival matted and framed original for sale – please email me for details) This is a piece I have in our bedroom right now. She is on the opposite wall from The Witness / I don’t really know what she has to say either, but I think it’s something about the acceptance of the mysterious cycles of life. Whatever it may be, she has a calming influence on me. As a round image, she doesn’t lend well to greeting cards full sized so I have a cropped version / that does within my portfolio: / But here in full: / ALSO available in my Clothing as a T: /

  • pencil on paper (arches) drawing ORIGINAL SOLD Here is a shot of it where it took honors at an exhibition along with its sister/brother, Messenger (in sweet memory of Isabella Grace Torroll who was being breastfed by her caring mother, Beth Rose, while I was doing a lot of this drawing) Since this is a round image, it doesn’t lend itself easily to some of the products. Please pop over here / for a cropped version of this image that will. IF interested in a T-shirt, please visit my Clothing section: / /

  • pencil embellished limited-edition print of pencil drawing This was also done for a benefit exhibition. AND, at Zazzle, this mug /

  • Just for Drawing Day 2009, this special edition of my pencil drawing “Cacophony” where little items have been added to commemorate. I don’t keep track of the pencils or types of pencils I use. I’ve used many brands and every degree of soft and hard. I forget what papers I use. I know – I should keep track of this stuff. I’ll try to do better in the future. In honor of all pencil pushers out there in the world – my humble offering… AND, in my clothing section, some variations on the original:

  • I have this poem here that inspired me to create this tonight. Shadow Play messages / pressures, brushes, touches, whispers Like sound, like leaves singing Thoughts would emerge / as if from the shadows / themselves and burn / into the screen of my / mind Everything was gray except the flashes / tiny sparks between skin and skin / signaling secret code / we will solve sometime / or maybe watch only like stars / sliding across skies so impossibly dark / except for points of light / like her eyes ....................................................................... • This one has been sitting unfinished on my PC for a few weeks, I was just not sure what I wanted to do with it until last night when I was reminded of the beautiful song “Autumn Leaves”, originally by Edith Piaf (in French, naturally), but beautiful also in its English translation as below. This was one of my favourite songs to sing when I was a teenager and I have wonderful memories of singing this to the beautiful piano accompaniment played by my cousin Anina. :) This is a mixed media piece in which I digitally combined a roller ball drawing I did for the purpose, with a chalk pastel drawing and photographic textures and brushes. Proudly New Zealand-made. :) Featured in Imaginative Realism, Sept 26, 2009. / Featured in Dimensions Oct 11, 2009. / Featured in Inspired Art Oct 18, 2009. Autumn Leaves Artist: Eva Cassidy / English Lyrics by Johnny Mercer and Music by Joseph Kosma The falling leaves drift by my window / The falling leaves of red and gold / I see your lips, the summer kisses / The sunburned hands I used to hold Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall

  • / There’s an Elephant in my Garden digitally colour version also available (click here) / A sepia drawing before I colour this work…. “there’s an elephant in my garden” Inspired by my parents talk of topiary gardens in Tassie and their topiary teapot in the backyard and my little girl with the curl Sarah, who’s all growed up now (but this reminds me of her when she was a littlun)...thanx Nenek and Poppy….luv ya / / There’s an Elephant in my Garden / a drawing on catridge from my Art Diary / digitally coloured I hope that the grownups who look at this painting will remember something special from their childhood, some hopeful feeling, which will help them through today’s difficulties. There are all the colours of the rainbow in this piece, to remind us that there is always hope, no matter how hopeless it seems sometimes. The rainbow is a sign of hope. Children See/Children Do powerful message for grownups I hope that all the children who look at this painting will drift off into a faraway place in their imagination and feel wonderful for a while, especially if things are getting them down…and if life is wonderful, may this little picture add to the wonder and spark the imagination. Big hello to Maya!! :)
