I did this illustration in college for a children’s book I had written. Honestly, I don’t even remember the name of it. (I know, that’s bad of me…bad Steve, BAD!) I don’t remember it being all that good of a story anyway. Had something to do with a kid making a rocket ship, then going to space and having crazy adventures with space monsters. (Not exactly crazy-original).

Did this one a while quite a while ago. Back when I was in my early twenties… (Oh crap I’m getting old.) Who are the monsters? Why are they swimming on a faraway planet with a pot bellied little boy? Why did I feel the need to use so much marker on this piece? I don’t have the answers to any of that…sorry. Deal with it.

Sports A woman surfer. / original pencil drawing “Wahine” has been nominated by gottheshot for the prestigious Pay It Forward Group His comment is “Her work is what I would call ‘authentic’. By this I mean that her work has an Asian style together with a – may I say ‘cutesy’ feel to it. The work has elements of deail, fun, asian culture – which all come together in a great portfolio of work. My single nomination which is incredibly difficult is Wahine. I chose this particular piece ocs of the great detail in the eyes of the work. It reminds me of anime in Japan. I hope you like her. When my husband saw this, he said / she took my breath away. reminds me of the first time I saw you .breath takingly beautiful / it just doesn’t get better than that :) xx This started off as a pencil drawing I did a couple of months ago, I’ve since coloured her in digitally. Makes a nice thank you card from the bride, or just a pretty gift card or print for a girlfriend or your sweetheart.

/ / ancient chinese music to accompany the folk tale Ancient Chinese Folk Tale Once upon a time, a long time ago ….. On a warm spring day, in Xia times, some children went out in the fields to play. In those days, if you had a problem you went to see the local wise woman. In this village, the wise woman’s name was Loawnu. Alarmed at what they saw in the fields, the children ran up the hill to Loawnu’s house. “Loawnu,” they shouted. “The sky is falling down!” Loawnu smiled at the children. “Don’t be worried. Find all the pieces of sky that have fallen, and bring them to me. I’ll sew them together again in time for the festival.” The spring festival was nearing. This was a time when the young people gathered from many villages to meet one another and to find husbands and wives. The children’s village had been honored this year as the meeting village. It would be a horrible time for the sky to fall down. The village would be disgraced! Off the children ran to pick up the pieces. But some were missing! “Loawnu!” cried the children, as they tore up the hill, breathing heavily. Loawnu only smiled. The next day, the children ran outside and looked up. The sky looked as it always looked on a warm spring day, clean and fresh and blue. They were so happy. That night, they were amazed! The sky had always been dark at night. That night, it was filled with light! Loawnu had patched the missing pieces of sky with bright twinkling light! How beautiful! How clever! We shall have the happiest spring festival in all the land!
