  • Thank you to Linmarie / for these very beautiful words which she wrote after seeing Safe in the Branches:- My skin is auburn / My eyes are autumn / My lips a taught brown frown / My fingers are branches of a tree / against my expression of being let down. You never saw me when I stood right next to you / I walked on egg shells just to please you / You looked right through my soul, missed all I had to offer / I had no where else to go. So the forest became my place to reflect, hide and be safe / I became one with nature, because she heard my song / She welcomed me, wrapped me in warmth / And told me ” It has been to long”. Music fills me with wind and storms / The forest has become my new arms / Because you didn’t, I moved along / You should have listened, I am now strong. • Grade B pencil on smooth catridge paper This Drawing was inspired by the following song:- The Lady Lies / by Tony Banks The man steps out in the moonlight / At the sound of a scream from below. / He thinks he is a warrior / So he picks op his sword and goes. From the mouth of the monster / He rescues the maiden fair. / But we know she’s a demon / Come to lure him to the demon’s lair. Through restless foliage and tall trees he leads / To a house in a clearing, a place in her fear she calls home. ‘Come with me, I need you, / I fear the dark and I live all alone. / I’ll give you wine and food too / And something special after if you like.’ And though his body bids him / To enter in with her, / There was something in her manner / That his mind could not ignore. For who knows what magic takes place in his world? / So he just thanks her kindly preparing to go on his way. ‘Come with me, I need you, / I fear the dark and I live all alone. / I’ll give you wine and food too / And something special after if you like. Come to my garden, / Taste the fruits and the spices of love. / You can’t resist me, / I’m the kind that your dreams tell you of.’ ‘So glad you could make it / We had everything arranged. / So glad you saw fit to pay a call.’ Some men never listen, / Others never learn, / But why this man did as he did / Only he will ever know. He knew he was walking / Into a wailing trap, / Neatly set up for him / With a bait so richly wrapped. So he went inside there to take on what he found / But he never escaped them, for who can escape what he desires? ‘Come with me, I need you, / I fear the dark and I live all alone. / I’ll give you wine and food too / And something special after if you like.’

  • Wahine is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured in digitally. I used the actual image for the background by liquifying it, stretching it and adding in some blue hues…. wa·hi·ne (wä-hn, n) also va·hi·ne (vä) / n. / 1. Hawaii A Polynesian woman. / 2. Sports A woman surfer. / original pencil drawing “Wahine” has been nominated by gottheshot for the prestigious Pay It Forward Group His comment is “Her work is what I would call ‘authentic’. By this I mean that her work has an Asian style together with a – may I say ‘cutesy’ feel to it. The work has elements of deail, fun, asian culture – which all come together in a great portfolio of work. My single nomination which is incredibly difficult is Wahine. I chose this particular piece ocs of the great detail in the eyes of the work. It reminds me of anime in Japan. The bigger the eyes, the more detail within it – just fantastic.” Thank you so much gottheshot for nominating me, and thank you to the hosts of Pay it Forward who work so hard on this wonderful group.

  • © Copyright 2009 Ivana Redwine, All Rights Reserved This was a bit of an experiment. I used one of my drawings of a face as a starting point. I didn’t use a model. Instead, I drew a woman from my imagination. After I scanned my drawing, I digitally manipulated a couple of royalty-free images of butterflies so they would merge with and frame the face in way that would be aesthetically pleasing. Then I added a couple of finishing touches.
