This one is a bit older than some of the stuff I’ve put up here so far. It was done a couple of years ago for a book titled “The Big Coat.” (Not exactly my best writing.) Despite the story not exactly standing the test of time I think this piece still holds up fairly well. No? Okay, maybe not, but could you at least pretend that it’s fantastic? Pretty please? Pretty please with sugar on top? Pretty please with sugar and a fresh, crisp new fifty dollar bill on top?

This small watercolor pencil study is a portrait of our collie/Australian Blue Heeler named Shadow, the wonder dog. She is as sweet and as smart as they come and not only herds other dogs, but has learned how to clean and drop into the recyling bin any small plastic food containers.

This is the old Beamish wheel in County Durham, England. Painted in watercolour and pencil, in the style of Thomas Hair (1810 – 1875). / My hero from the 1830’s. He is unknown in his own town (Newcastle upon Tyne) and was buried in an unmarked grave, but his work was stunning. Finding artistic beauty, amongst the hellish conditions of industry, in the 1830’s! This is my latest (and my personal favourite) from my Thomas Hair series.
