I just uploaded this new scan from my work!! I just completed this mixed media piece. The image size is 14×18 inches. I used archival ink and derwent graphitint watercolor pencils. This is drawn on illustration board and took many hours. I completed the border over a year ago and could not decide what I wanted to put in the middle. I was originally going to call this drawing “If I Could Help Design An Antelope” but as I finished it I decided that it had an old world feeling to it and the name “Paradise” seemed to fit. you will not see this species anywhere as I dreamed it up:) Any proceeds from the sale of prints and cards from RB will be donated to The Philadelphis Mission. / Morning Light World English Bible / Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. From the ‘Connection Series’, this is a pencil drawing, coloured with aquacolour crayons on paper… i have played around with this quite a bit in photoshop also, applying layers and more colour to enrich the overall look When i ponder this, it gives me a feeling of hope, like after the mourning, there is morning and the sun comes out again….. It’s all about our connection with nature and other lofty things :)

/ (Mocha timber frame/off white matt/medium size) / Greeting Card hand drawn on paper / digital painting Legend of Little Geisha / art and story by K Taylor (4/09) In the village of Ishekawa by the Sea of Japan lived a poor couple who wove and carved for a living. The couple had no real possessions but were content with the beauty of the mountains and the sea surrounding them, and happy to be together. The only thing they wished for and did not yet have, was a child to call their own. One day, an ancient crone visited their home and as always, the couple offered their hospitality, gave her rice cakes and sake to warm her belly. The old crone, in return for their kindness, bestowed upon the couple the ability to have a girl child. The child grew from a seed into a strong and beautiful young woman, glowing with pride and joy, she was the delight of Ishekawa by the Sea of Japan, and many young suitors came to visit and pay her homage. But as is the way with old crones, you can never quite trust them to do you a favour without some twist in the tale. Unfortunately, the seed from which the child grew, began to sprout roots, and she was bound to the earth. In time the beautiful young girl became a majestic tree and all the birds from near and far came to perch and nest in her branches, she gave them shelter from the wind and rain, and everyone who knew the legend realised the tree was actually the Little Geisha. / here’s the drawing (above) prior to being digitally coloured

pencil on paper (Arches) drawing – image size: 30” wide x 22” high (ORIGINAL SOLD) The title is a play on the word and the physicality of the drawing itself. If you turn this drawing on each side, and upside down, you will see the same face looking at you. (All ways) It also is a memorial – to commemorate some friends and family in my life who passed on but who I’ll remember and want noted for “always”. There are names in the trees and bark, and there is even a tiny little poem in the grass. Good luck finding it. I can only when looking at the original. It says: “The purpose of love and art are the same – to stop the clock.” (You can see the original framed drawing on the wall behind me at one of my solo shows a few years ago.) / AND, now available as a mug at Zazzle: / Always mug /

pencil on paper (taken from a pad of “drawing” paper from the early 80’s) drawing Another oldie! / Ah, those big eyes I was obsessed with BACK THEN. / Well, friends tease me and say it will be considered one of my “periods”. What you can’t see is that there is a whole top layer of trees that were drawn on the black background and when you look at this from other angles, they are visible – just quietly – like a subtle varnish. This is all about different phases of life borrowing the term of growing to fullness, or “waxing” of the moon. / My name actually means: Of the moon – or lunatic – you pick which fits. hahha! Just for Drawing Day 2009, this special edition of my pencil drawing “Cacophony” where little items have been added to commemorate. I don’t keep track of the pencils or types of pencils I use. I’ve used many brands and every degree of soft and hard. I forget what papers I use. I know – I should keep track of this stuff. I’ll try to do better in the future. Australia’s waterfalls are a natural wonder and they are hidden gems of the landscape. Deep in the forest lies a gem to be found / cascading water downward bound / sunlight dappling between the trees / nature at its best will always please…. This is a night light that I made using a very old drawing of mine “Little Wing Lost”. I cut it into pieces and attached it to a large base I made for it. I then added some branches and a smaller lower box for her chest. I cut out some of my own prints and magazine images and secured them to that. Behind, inside the base, I stuffed it with white lights. Then I wrote over her entire face and neck. My husband was making cookies while I was doing this – watching me – and he said, “Stop writing down everything I’m saying.”, which of course, I was doing and didn’t stop. It took top honors at a regional show a few years ago but now resides in my studio. Here’s a shot of it at the gallery with me next to it for scale. It’s about 5.5 feet high by 2 feet wide. / At night when it’s lit, there is a simple silhouette that shows through the face. (below) / (On the floor – lit – but not dark in the room yet – just showing you her full size) / And in my Clothing section, this T for thee… /

She spontaneously expresses her love and gratitude with a symbolic hug, revealing her love for her surrounds during a moonlit walk. Pencil on Arches watercolor paper / Greek mythology – Daphne / According to Greek myth, Apollo chased the nymph Daphne. The Olympian god’s infatuation was supposedly caused by an arrow from Eros, who wanted to make Apollo pay for making fun of his archery skills and to demonstrate the power of love’s arrow. / Daphne prays for help either to the river god Peneus or to Gaia, and is transformed into a laurel (Laurus nobilis): “a heavy numbness seized her limbs, thin bark closed over her breast, her hair turned into leaves, her arms into branches, her feet so swift a moment ago stuck fast in slow-growing roots, her face was lost in the canopy. Only her shining beauty was left.” The laurel became sacred to Apollo, and crowned the victors at the Pythian Games. Most artistic impressions of the myth focus on the moment of transformation.
