Ink drawing on paper. / For the last 25 years Rita’s daily star sign has read: Capricorn, today you will be as bored and disillusioned as you were yesterday. This is a true story: There was once a woman who lived her life by the daily newspaper starsign she had delivered to her house everyday. She was fanatical about it. If the starsign said bad things will happen that day she would not even leave the house. On one of these particular days when she felt stuck inside she decided to clean out her attic. Whilst doing this she discovered her original birth certificate. It indicated that she was actually born on an entirely different day and month therefore she was a completely different starsign!!! Dear oh dear… I based this character on her.

The North Sea at Whitby. The Herring boats at misty dawn, / To get the details of the boats correct, I’ve used a Victorian photo as the subject. I liked the very hard pen ink lines of the foreground, contrasting with the soft, misty, wet-in-wet background. 90 lb watercolour, medium rough paper. / 12”x8”

/ Morning Light World English Bible / Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. From the ‘Connection Series’, this is a pencil drawing, coloured with aquacolour crayons on paper… i have played around with this quite a bit in photoshop also, applying layers and more colour to enrich the overall look When i ponder this, it gives me a feeling of hope, like after the mourning, there is morning and the sun comes out again….. It’s all about our connection with nature and other lofty things :)

One of my favourite shows is Outrageous Fortune, and one of the characters Pascalle West has an incredible storyline about being a kind of new age guru who tries to change everyone’s lives. / / / / Original pencil drawing “Topiary Teapot” About the Art / A pencil drawing coloured digitally, an elegant geisha enjoys the simple pleasure of her garden. The teapot topiary is also a fountain, you can see water pouring out of the spout and a sprinkler at the tippy top.. :) Inspiration / The inspiration came through my parents, who have a topiary teapot and a topiary sugar bowl in their own backyard, the also told me of an amazing topiary garden they visited in Tassie recently. / / Here is the “teapot topiary” in my parents’ backyard, they are sculpting teapots and sugar bowls….there are lots of fun things in my mum and dad’s garden !! Even the Cheshire Cat and Tinman have a spot in the sun there :)

I edited my original illustration of Carnival Skull to enter the ‘Happy’ challenge. / So I guess this is a self portrait if I were a heavily tattooed sugar skull! / If this represented my happiness on a scale from 1-10, it would have to be a 10..extremely jolly!
