  • Photograph and graphite drawing merged – 2007

  • A self-portrait with another self-portrait and my last painting as a background. Foreground: Nude, pastel drawing on watercolor paper, private collection Europe / Background: YouMe, oil on canvas, private collection Australia I reluctantly did this self-portrait, it was one of the compulsory themes for my final exam in Portraiture Photography. My teacher told us to come with something creative and interesting, and gave us some amazing examples from previous years. I left this till the last moment because nothing interesting crossed my mind. In the end I took my last drawing for Chris Orchard’s class and my last painting and did this. I used the natural light which was coming from the balcony from my right side. The image wasn’t “photoshoped”. / Finally when I got up there in front to talk about my work, I was surprised to see that this work was everyone’s favorite. It was the least prepared of all my works. The commission selected it to put it on the school website, and not long after, The Advertiser news paper, called me to publish it. My agent printed it on a large canvas which was sold during South Australian Living Artists Festival.

  • The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by me SBC, with my painting, and drawings. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda through my eyes. This art won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. It is presently being considered for exhibition at the Royal Navy Dockyard Museum in Bermuda. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!

  • digital mixed media. / combination of drawings and photos taken on my camera phone (mostly from the car while driving – I know this is probably not a good idea but sometimes I just have to get an image). Winter rain makes me want to climb into somewhere small with a book, a cup of hot tea, and sketchpad to spend time with my thoughts and dreams. Looking out from the window, the grey light of the sky dimly illuminates the neighborhood being washed clean at last… I miss… something… and that comforts me.

  • This one has been sitting unfinished on my PC for a few weeks, I was just not sure what I wanted to do with it until last night when I was reminded of the beautiful song “Autumn Leaves”, originally by Edith Piaf (in French, naturally), but beautiful also in its English translation as below. This was one of my favourite songs to sing when I was a teenager and I have wonderful memories of singing this to the beautiful piano accompaniment played by my cousin Anina. :) This is a mixed media piece in which I digitally combined a roller ball drawing I did for the purpose, with a chalk pastel drawing and photographic textures and brushes. Proudly New Zealand-made. :) Featured in Imaginative Realism, Sept 26, 2009. / Featured in Dimensions Oct 11, 2009. / Featured in Inspired Art Oct 18, 2009. Autumn Leaves Artist: Eva Cassidy / English Lyrics by Johnny Mercer and Music by Joseph Kosma The falling leaves drift by my window / The falling leaves of red and gold / I see your lips, the summer kisses / The sunburned hands I used to hold Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall
