Inspired by the nasty subculture of drugs, nightclubs and the vampiric leeches that prey on the naive young.
A horror piece inspired by the multitude of atrocities man/woman inflicts upon him/herself and the rest of the world for personal gain, and in a lot of cases just for the hell of it.
Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft
Well here it is folks…I will put up a better quality photo later. / After hours and hours of diligent crosshatching EVERY SINGLE SCALE, I have finished. (albeit a broken woman!) / I would like to thank everyone here at RB who have supported this mammoth task, I think I would have gone nuts if it wasn’t for all your support! Thankyou!!!
Ink, pencil & watercolour on Fabriano Tiepolo paper.
The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by SBC, painting, and drawing. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda. It won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!
I wanted this design to be bright and vibrant, based on the beauty of a dragonfly! Hand drawn ink outlines and colored in Photoshop.

Inspired by god(?) knows what I took about three evenings to complete this drawing. The idea started with the left part, wanting to create some dramatic poses, but eventually got some more symbolic features… Full scan can be seen at: http://www.bruinevloot.nl/sebastiaan Indian ink on Studio Art 160Gr/m2 sketchpaper. about 40×30 cm or 16 by 12 inches… 2008. I just uploaded this new scan from my work!! I just completed this mixed media piece. The image size is 14×18 inches. I used archival ink and derwent graphitint watercolor pencils. This is drawn on illustration board and took many hours. I completed the border over a year ago and could not decide what I wanted to put in the middle. I was originally going to call this drawing “If I Could Help Design An Antelope” but as I finished it I decided that it had an old world feeling to it and the name “Paradise” seemed to fit. you will not see this species anywhere as I dreamed it up:) Any proceeds from the sale of prints and cards from RB will be donated to The Philadelphis Mission. You may view their contact info. on my front page. Thanks for looking!! You can also purchase this design on authentic postage stamps at www.zazzle.com/catherinehowell

pencil on paper drawing – image size: 30” wide x 22” high (ORIGINAL SOLD) The title is a play on the word and the physicality of the drawing itself. If you turn this drawing on each side, and upside down, you will see the same face looking at you. (All ways) It also is a memorial – to commemorate some friends and family in my life who passed on but who I’ll remember and want noted for “always”. There are names in the trees and bark, and there is even a tiny little poem in the grass. Good luck finding it. I can only when looking at the original. It says: “The purpose of love and art are the same – to stop the clock.” (You can see the original framed drawing on the wall behind me at one of my solo shows a few years ago.) / AND, now available as a mug at Zazzle: / Always mug /
Pencil on paper (arches) drawing (ORIGINAL ON HOLD) This is about having a lot to say but being cut off from being able to say it. That’s why her hair is so noisy. (grin) I’m serious! As a funky T / As a framed T / AND, as a mug if you pop over to Zazzle: /
pencil on paper (Stonehenge) drawing – 22×22” – ORIGINAL SOLD / Signed and numbered limited-edition prints in two sizes are available at cynthia’s store There are so many stories to tell about this piece – wild coincidences, terrible tragedy and ultimate redemption. / I still don’t know if I can tell them all here now, but if there is one take-away to be had, it’s of the power of vulnerability and trust in oneself in the face of daunting odds… / I’ve included a not so great shot of me with the original. I had it framed so it was floating on suede. Here it is after receiving a Best of Show honor along with “Ennead”. detailed version of Event at RedBubble Please check out the numerous T’s with this drawing featured in my clothing section. /

pencil on paper (taken from a pad of “drawing” paper from the early 80’s) drawing Another oldie! / Ah, those big eyes I was obsessed with BACK THEN. / Well, friends tease me and say it will be considered one of my “periods”. What you can’t see is that there is a whole top layer of trees that were drawn on the black background and when you look at this from other angles, they are visible – just quietly – like a subtle varnish. This is all about different phases of life borrowing the term of growing to fullness, or “waxing” of the moon. / My name actually means: Of the moon – or lunatic – you pick which fits. hahha! (Original for sale. Email for serious queries.) / You can see it behind me in this overexposed shot from a solo show I had: /

This is what I used to do way back when I actually had a life. It’s about 30×40 inches and done in color pencil on rives paper.
Inspired by the music of Sam Phillips, too much coffee at 4 am, Alice, and the first hint of autumn in Boston
