Another Clydie. There were about a dozen of them in this paddock in Mansfield and I used a roll or two of film on them. From these photos I have composed many drawings and paintings. / Water colour pencils on mount board. Size approx. 25cm x 34cm. 2003 Sold. Has been featured in the ‘Equine Art and Photography’ and ‘Creative Cards’ groups.

Austrian light draught horse. / Very gentle and very trainable. / While trying to photograph this group of four, this mare kept nibbling on my shoulder and stealing my hat. / Apparently, she wanted me to photograph only her.

A series of very old photographs taken by my great-grandfather and grandfather who founded Souvenir Photo Studio in the early 1900’s, in Radville, Saskatchewan. This is my father, 1902 – 1984, who is greatly missed. Judging by the residence in the background I assume this picture is 1930’s vintage. CHALLENGE WINNER for “Furry Friends Of the Past” in the Days Gone By group.

Taken Canada Day July 1/09 at the Bar U Ranch near Longview, Alberta. / They have a long history of raising purebred Percherons. / These amazing horses are bred for pulling heavy loads and have huge feet with hairy fetlocks, strong necks and shoulders and incredibly strong haunches.

A very impressive, all black Percheron eight horse hitch, done four-abreast, completing an initial turn pulling a large wagon on runners. One of the interesting highlights was that these eight comprise of mixed teams of four from two different owners and yet their footwork is almost in unison!! Look at that synchronized footwork!!!! / These wonderful black beauties performed turns and pulled the wagon on runners with ease. I had never seen an 8-horse hitch done in 2 sets of 4 abreast before! / These are two different teams with different owners intermingled for this demonstration and yet look how well the legs are synchronized….
