Creative collaboration with my daughters. My preteen wanted to do something dramatic.
I love photographing in bad weather, there is just something about the drama of it all that amazes me, and this was of no exception. Garden of the Gods outside of Colorado Springs is the location, a place which, is simply magical and unlike anywhere else on Earth…the light here is the best I have ever seen, and even when there is none, it still holds it own. Captured this past early spring, where at the higher elevations the clouds brought snow, but where I was at, it was rain. Processed in HDR with final output through PS. / Thoughts welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. A fellow photographer at a local beach working with the last light of the day. It’s always nice to meet other photographers unexpectedly when you’re at a location. Sharing thoughts and ideas and generally having a great time. Dedicated to all my fellow seekers of light.

A Morning Stroll At the Lake Every now and then we almost miss a shot, and luckily this time I happened to turn around as I was walking back to my car from shooting the sunrise and had this scene greet me. Captured at Cherry Creek State Park outside of Denver, Colorado, the light seemed to almost dance among the trees. Processed in HDR
Part of the Sea Storm series shot off Bundeena Cliffs Royal National Park just south of Sydney. / The blur of the clouds is their movement over the 30 second exposure – more clouds start sweeping in as the storm gathers greater momentum. / This shot fits between this one and this one

An early Autumn evening image of The Pap of Glencoe (Scottish Gaelic: Sgurr na Cìche), a mountain on the northern side of Glencoe. It lies at the western end of the Aonach Eagach ridge, directly above the point where the River Coe enters Loch Leven. The Pap has a distinctive conical shape particularly when viewed from the west, and forms part of the “classic” view of the entrance to Glencoe. I watched a PBS [Public Broadcasting Network] TV Special years ago on Japan’s National Treasures. One episode was on Kabuki, the stylized dance of Japan. The cast is still all male from tradition. The national treasure was a dancer that specialized in the female geisha parts. He had been trained since childhood and was passing his craft on to a new generation. My Geisha is not beautiful, but I have tryed to capture the drama and color of a wonderful form of theater. Here’s a good youtube video that shows what an expressive art form Kabuki is. The Living Dead is a book of zombie literature gathering stories by the best known writers of the horror and fantasy genre such as Stephen King, Clive Barker and others. / The cover artwork is a masterpiece painting of the american illustrator David Palumbo, an image which I recreated in a quite unusual way. / George Romero’s Dead series was in mind in this too. This Calendar is dedicated to the Canadian photographer Patrick Di Fruscia. His creations are way beyond documentary records. Being both emotional and carefully crafted artistically, they aim to create a feeling of inner peace and, an awareness of the true beauty that lies everywhere around us. He hopes that his photographs will help preserve the beauty of the locations he has captured for future generations to witness. Constantly searching for these rare magical moments where the “Perfect Light” embraces Nature in all it’s glory, you can rest assure that this is only the beginning of Patrick’s long and amazing quest for nature’s immortality.
