Green Dragon on a yellow umbrella.
This gorgeous red Dragonfly was a frequent visitor and let me take many shots of him. This is one of my favorites – hope you enjoy. / ___ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. A new image taken just today of a single Dragonfly that found his way into the back window of my car; I don’t drive this vehicle much, as I recently purchased a newer model…..I saw him in the back window and he wasn’t moving….he turned out to be a very coorperative model for several shots; I hope you like them. Red Dragonfly (again) this time I tried removing that ugly car antennae, and replaced it with a few Umbrella Plant leaves. / / __ / As of 09/24/09: 1567 views, 20 favorites, 43 comments (not mine) / ___ / This image is copyright protected and registered – Please respect copyrights:MCN: CYFNX-ED2L1-N9MRV / _____ All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. The only change I made to this photograph was with the curves I twigged the color in it a bit but I personally love the effect. He was such the poser you will see :) I have a few dragonfly photo’s but to keep it from being boring I will only post the ones that are very different in feeling and effect. Thanks for viewing. FYI: this is my very first time capturing a dragonfly! Wasn’t the water still !
I had an opportunity that I clearly used to my advantage…...while up at Lake Nora over the weekend, a dragonfly in distress and nearly dead happened my way; he spent the good part of an hour letting me photograph him before he gathered up enough strength and then flew off, only to land about 10 feet from me, but out in the water…........I made a wish for him and I know his spirit is watching over all the others as they diligently go about their designated tasks…...I had a very good feeling though as if he was put right there in front of me for this reason…......I got quite a few shots of his entirety, but I enjoy this one more…........ / ______ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. What is it is about dragonflies that is so fascinating and magical… / i mean, i like butterflies, definitely, they’re obviously pretty and all, but dragonflies, well, i love… especially when they hover, little hyperactive observers, busy with mysterious urgent business… impossible to follow… unless they want to be… Model: fetish_faery / Other stock by resurgere and adaae (deviantart)

A dragonfly is a type of insect belonging to the order Odonata, the suborder Epiprocta or, in the strict sense, the infraorder Anisoptera. It is characterized by large multifaceted eyes, two pairs of strong transparent wings, and an elongated body. Dragonflies are similar to damselflies, but the adults can be differentiated by the fact that the wings of most dragonflies are held away from, and perpendicular to, the body when at rest. Dragonflies are also the fastest flying insect. Dragonflies are valuable predators that eat mosquitoes, and other small insects like flies, bees, ants, and butterflies. They are usually found around lakes, ponds, streams and wetlands because their larvae, known as “nymphs”, are aquatic. Nymphs can deliver a painful bite when threatened. The wound should be cleaned thoroughly to prevent water-borne infections. / / Nikon D60~ / N.Eastern Ct. 2008
