Midnight Blues is from a painting i did recently on Arches Aquarelle Paper 56×76cm, a mixed media production, utilising inks, pastels, acrylics, charcoals, found objects such as string and fabric….and the most beautiful gold paint which gives the guitar it’s lustre BOATS & BIRDS by Gregory and the Hawk If you be my star / I’ll be your sky / you can hide underneath me and come out at night / when I turn jet black and you show off your light / I live to let you shine / I live to let you shine but you can skyrocket away from me / and never come back if you find another galaxy / far from here with more room to fly / just leave me your stardust to remember you by if you be my boat / I’ll be your sea / a depth of pure blue just to probe curiosity / ebbing and flowing and pushed by a breeze / I live to make you free / I live to make you free but you can set sail to the west if you want to / and past the horizon till I can’t even see you / far from here where the beaches are wide / just leave me your wake to remember you by if you be my star / I’ll be your sky / you can hide underneath me and come out at night / when I turn jet black and you show off your light / I live to let you shine / I live to let you shine but you can skyrocket away from me / and never come back if you find another galaxy / far from here with more room to fly / just leave me your stardust to remember you by / stardust to remember you by Midnight Blues is from the Inspired Series by Karin Taylor, during the painting of this, i was strongly influenced by one of my favourite songs “Boats and Birds” by Gregory and the Hawke, as well as my favourite Australian artist, Brett Whitely, longing to capture something of the wonderful curves he created in his works. It has a dark and sombre feeling, much like how i was feeling at the time i created her. I used to laugh and carry on that my thoughts and my moods could ever be conveyed through a painting, and it was just silly that people reckoned they did so, but just look at me now….i cannot seem to prevent it happening these days!! lol…that’ll teach me to scoff :)

Red Dragonfly (again) this time I tried removing that ugly car antennae, and replaced it with a few Umbrella Plant leaves. / / ____ All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. What can I say? This creature mesmerised me…and almost got me questioned by the staff at the Hardware/Nursey place. / I have no idea what type of dragonfly she is.(she? Yes…well usually the females in insects are bigger than the males! This one was HUGE at approxiamtely 4 inches from eyes to tip of tail….) I am entering this in the “Upclose and Spineless Photographic competition ” run by the Australian Museum. I have discovered it is called a “T-Mark” Emerald Dragonfly. You can see the T mark clearly on his nose.

I took this macro at a party. The Dragon Fly was resting on a rope that held the tent down. In the distance was a large inflatable jumping toy for the kids. It made a nice Red White and Blue background.

This image has 22 pictures of assorted bugs, spiders, and insects and would be a perfect greeting for any lover of creepy crawlies. I printed it in two sizes, 4 X 6 and 8 X 10 to make sure each little picture is visible and there’s no problem. Prints clearly! For the bug lovers among us, I hope you like this. I think my friend Jesika will; in fact, this one’s for you, Jesika! Postscript: (If anyone has grandkids, especially grandsons, I bet they’d love studying this bug card/poster. I know my grandson will so I’m sending it his way with Mammy’s love for him and the critters).

This bright blue Eastern Pondhawk dragonfly is a male; its mate is apple green in color. Both are beautiful and graceful and very helpful to humans as they eat enormous numbers of mosquitoes daily. In fact, they are commonly referred to as mosquito hawks because they’re predators on the prowl for the offensive pests!
