What can I say? This creature mesmerised me…and almost got me questioned by the staff at the Hardware/Nursey place. / I have no idea what type of dragonfly she is.(she? Yes…well usually the females in insects are bigger than the males! This one was HUGE at approxiamtely 4 inches from eyes to tip of tail….) I am entering this in the “Upclose and Spineless Photographic competition ” run by the Australian Museum. I have discovered it is called a “T-Mark” Emerald Dragonfly. You can see the T mark clearly on his nose.
sometimes I just get these strange images in my head…........ For the darker colour shirts
A fractal image representing a flying dragon or anything else that your imagination can see.
stretch one more minute / take a few more steps / be willing to not know / and trust / whatever shows up / will be waiting for you / because the universe is made that way / it always provides / more than we can hope for / or know how to imagine / stay open / it will come… / on glistening wings…xx

Here is a happy creature – perhaps he is a pollen-breather and is brining flowers into bloom. In any case, it looks like a good life.
A dragon fly, sunning itself on the stone wall beside the main (large) pool of the main garden in Mt Annan Botanical Gardens. Extreme provocation was needed to unseat this insect who, it seemed, was quite happy to sit through 20 or more flash bursts, just to warm itself up. I realise this is a living organism, but honestly, it does look like a childs R/C toy copter. To be honest, despite being efficient hunters and magnificently proficient aeronauts, dragon flies do seem as though they were put together in a hurry (quickly mass produced in a factory, ready for the Christmas silly season). Big red fire-engines, with wings, and teeth. They seem to lack that “Finished” quality of other insects, and yet as fierce preditors, they have survived and not needed to evolve a smoothness of lines as have other, less successful insects. I so wanted to swat this damn insect with my shoe!! Just to keep it still for a moment!! I spent the better part of an hour following this gorgeous dragon around – as I’d focus and check the composition, he’d fly off. Well I finally got 3 decent pics!! As is. Nikon D80 / Nikkor 105 AF-S VR Micro / f/13; 1/60; ISO 100; On Camera – Flash on TTL (to freeze any movement and to get a catchlight). And another one I got:
