Time for another expression for my love of rain! The background is a 22in x 28in acrylic painting with slight alterations, mainly colour and blurring. The original contains 4 pink flowers, but they didn’t cut it so I photoshopped them out. The light effect is a result of the camera flash. The rain, child, and porch railing are photoshop.

mixed media on wood. tree is made of playing cards and postcards cut to fit together. the texture was a result of a heavy rain before i gessoed the pannel. i decided to let it set the direction of the piece. this is a relic of its own demise.

This is the vibration plate under one of the potchers. Once the fibres have been bleached in the potcher and it has been emptied out the bottom, this plate would vibrate to shake out all of the water from the fibres so they could be moved on for further processing.
This was a storm that went thru Newcastle on saturday 14th March. The storm had several areas heavy rainfall but where I was it was dry. The clouds were amazing with this storm, particularly the loop that is in the centre of the image. / This photo is a panoramic made from 2 images stitched in CS3. This torrential downpour put us off our planned sunset sail last night… lightening and metal dinghy masts are not the best combo I fear… the raindrops almost bouncing off the loch.. or stoatin’ doon as joak would say.. Not great art but a memorable night and just wish i’d got those rebounding raindrops more clearly… try viewing large.. Thanks for looking! cheers… Nikon D60 / Nikkor VR 18-200 / UV filter / f/5.6 / 1/100sec / ISO-400 / exp -0.3 / 200mm

Another former Flickr image….. This one was shot over my back fence, standing on tippy-toes, bracing against my kids swing set, at full 300mm zoom….. / All because we’d just had a downpour & there was this gorgeous golden light around the Gum trees…. / Of course I then had to go & put texture all over it. [my own textures used]
This photo was just taken with a Canon EOS 10D camera body using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens set to 230mm. The shutter speed was 1/4 of a second at f/13. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. No flash. Your comments are always welcome!
