  • Lighthouse
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.32–US$98.80

Lighthouse on the island of Pellworm in the North Sea, off the coast of Germany.

  • Stick Fishermen
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Umm… Somewhere in the south coast of Sri Lanka, possibly Unawatuna, not entirely sure though. / Anyhows, stick fishermen who spend the day sitting on sticks and… well, yes, fishing. It’s quite an awesome sight actually… it’s like a ‘forest’ of sticks on the water. And there were a LOT of them! I think it’s a very traditional method of fishing, especially where you have rocks like this creating a calm area in which they can fish. / I also got a very nice wood carving of a stick fisherman, it’s sitting on my desk right now lol / Found this shot after a huge sort through of some old shots from Sri Lanka- and realised that I had missed quite a lot of shots! / Hope you like!

  • Liquid Ubersilk
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.32–US$98.80

Whilst taking these someone I showed one of them to called it Liquid Ubersilk, which I quite liked… / First time ever taking a tripod with me and really trying out new stuff with the shutter speed and water. Taken in the Fforest Fawr region of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales

  • Sunset Silhouette
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Capo Testa, Sardinia, Italy Just trying to frame the sky… The end of an astonishing sunset. The light was simple beautiful (see my other evening shots from capo testa- i’ll put them into a set as soon as possible.) Best viewed big to get the full effect of the sky. Well, I think so anyway.

  • Castle Rock 2
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Another HDR, looking west along the coast from Castle Rock, Exmoor, North Devon. It was wet, the sky was grey, there was mood… perfect atmosphere for HDR! Again, if you have any suggestions for improving the tone mapping here, please say. It did go a bit bright down below the rocks, but it partly allowed the rest of the image to keep it’s clarity even if this bit didn’t.

  • Sunset Dreams
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.16–US$95.00

A piece made using the fractalius plugin based on the sunset shot “Into the Light” (taken in Galle, Sri Lanka).

  • Zoe Of Adram
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$17.81–US$95.00

    - It’s the name of the closest boat. Taken in Port Isaac, Cornwall, down in the harbour whilst the tide was out. I may have overdone the HDR a bit here (I’ve got another few versions) but I felt like uploading it to rb just to see what people thought. It was a shame when I went down there just after new year as a particular boat – called winnie the pooh (=] !) – isn’t there any more. I’m not entirely sure what happened to it but it was disappointing as I still have memories of times spent mackerel fishing on that boat when I was much younger… Here’s a B&W version of this, as I think this might be a little extreme in the processing:

  • Rockscape
    by Jonathan Dower

  • Sea
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.32–US$98.80

    Port Gaverne, Cornwall

  • Monkey in a tree. I have just found out from ApeArt’s comment that it’s a Hanuman Langur, (which is a type of Gray Langur, apparently). Thank you very much! Anyway, I like to give some information on my pictures, so here is some wikipedia sourced information: / “In Sri Lanka, Gray Langurs are generally known as Wanduras. / They are largely gray, with a black face. In Indian mythology, this is because Hanuman, a monkey warrior, burnt his hands and face trying to rescue Lord Rama’s wife. Males are up to 75 cm long, and females 65 cm. Langurs from the southern part of their range are smaller than those from the north.” Yala National Park, Sri Lanka. Sounds about right.

  • The Arch and the Statue
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.32–US$98.80

Pollunwara, Sri Lanka. An absolutely amazing site full of ruins and then more ruins… / This was just one of a few hundred shots I took here, and I just hope in looks slightly artistic, not just a holiday snap. I think this was a Hindu ruin, with the Buddhist ones further along the lake.

  • On Sigiriya Rock
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.32–US$98.80

Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. This was half way on our climb up some of the scariest stairs I had ever been on, clinging to the vertical rock face of Sigiriya rock. I will try to update this with a more beautiful description, perhaps a bit of travel writing, at another stage, but for now, here’s the shot on a plateau half way up.

  • Minneriya Elephants
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.48–US$102.60

I took quite a lot of these, so I might be naming them Minneriya Elephants 1, then 2 etc., when I finally get round to uploading them. It’s taken me nearly a year to upload these! Anyway, elephants in Minneriya National Park, Sri Lanka. Hope you like it.

  • Evening Light in Bosa
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Bosa, Sardinia. I made a special excursion just to take this shot to capture the evening light. Sardinia wasn’t exactly the photographer’s dream during the day- the light was so harsh and bright everything appeared washed out, and I couldn’t find a way to stop it. (and yes, I tried all the manual mode functions.) So to take photos with this light was wonderful.

  • Sailing in the Straits
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.48–US$102.60

Looking towards Bonifacio, Corsica. Taken from the Santa Teresa di Gallura (Sardinia- Itsly)) to Bonifacio (Corsica- France) ferry, crossing the Straits of Bonifacio. Oh, how much I could say randomly about this! The town is Bonifacio, perched on a ridge of cliffs with the straits on one side and the natural harbour on the other (the entrance is to the left of the picture.) / It’s an amazingly beautiful town, looking out over the straits towards Sardinia. I’ll say more about Bonifacio in the description of another image- one actually taken in the town. An astonishing number of yachts and other boats were constantly entering and leaving the town, but they were dinghies compared to this beautiful thing! It sailed close enough to the ferry to get a good shot… But WHAT A YACHT! / It set me thinking about Bonifacio’s history (no kidding, it actually did…) / At one stage the boats leaving Bonifacio would have all been wonderful tall ships, before the age of four tiered super-yachts and 200hp powerboats. This boat was just a call back- albeit modern- to when truly beautiful ships, ships that didn’t use engines, just the wind, would cross these straits- just as this one is doing. I’ve rambled on a bit here, but it is such a wonderful boat, and such a wonderful setting to sail it in- it made even the 70-ft super yacht in the harbour seem obsolete- nothing compared to the grace and flair of the pristine, beautiful sails filled by the wind. If you read this far, well done and thanks.

  • An image made when I was fiddling around the fractalius filter in photoshop. / Based on my work Through the Open Gate I think the effect here is particularly spectacular, as it both blurs and sharpened the image, beautifully. I still love this filter! Especially the gate, which now looks almost knotted… Almost dreamlike in appearance, almost real, but not quite… / Well, that’s what I think. / And I’m sure it would make a BEAUTIFUL card or maybe a lovely print to go on a spare bit of wall space. You know it would.

  • Rocky Sunset
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Capo Testa, Sardinia, Italy. Astonishingly beautiful sunset, and well worth the special trip out there from where we were staying to see. We had seen Capo Testa in the day,but it was simply too bright. The pictures didn’t look right. So an evening trip was ideal. / We weren’t the only people up there- dotted around there were a few more, most armed with cameras. But it’s a pile of rocks with plenty of space, so it was nice. And without all those people there, there wouldn’t have been that slightly strange round of applause after the thoughful silence which came after the sun went down. I don’t know- it was almost enlightenment, watching the sun creep it’s way down, the shadows on the rocks lengthening. Simply stunning. I’m glad others were there to appreciate it too. Sorry the sea isn’t entirely straight here, i didn’t realise till I put in on the computer. My other 50 shots were alright though. I won’t upload them all!

  • Castle Rock 1
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.16–US$95.00

I’ve uploaded one other HDR to rb, but it was not the right sky or atmosphere for the treatment. / However, I think this one is! My first ever (proper) HDR, based on RAW files. I just played around with the settings till i found one I liked, and was pleasantly pleased with the result. But HDR bofs out there, if you have any hints for making it better, please do say! Castle Rock, North Devon Coast (Exmoor)

  • Castle Rock 3
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$4.16–US$95.00

My final HDR from castle rock I am uploading (they’re a nice set…). / I think Castle Rock gave me the first chance to really experiment with HDR and get to grips with it- my first ever serious try. And it truly is a stunning place, and a stunning coastline. / I hope you like it! Castle Rock in the foreground, looking West. / Castle Rock, Exmoor, North Devon

  • Wapping Rope
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Rope Circle in Wapping, London The sculpture is made out of ships hawsers which have been shaped and stiffened to keep their form, standing next to the Hermitage Basin. HDR shot from 1 RAW file (was in a hurry- no time to take more!) Does it show a slightly murky and deserted side of London? Perhaps, but I don’t know, please comment! Best viewed large as there’s a lot of detail in the image.

  • I really wanted the title to be more inspired… Anyway, in the mountains in Eastern Sardinia, Italy. Enjoy!

  • Ceylon Mountains
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Taken on top of Sigiriya Rock, Sri Lanka… / Only just found it and upped the contrast a bit to upload it- well over a year since I went to Sri Lanka! But I can still remember it, and this shot doesn’t do that view justice. The light was getting a bit low for photographs (and I had no tripod :( ), as we had climbed the rock during the evening to escape the heat of the day, so I couldn’t really get the camera to pick it up like I would have liked. Uploaded what I did get anyway lol

  • The Me Monkey
    by Jonathan Dower

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Ah, at long last, I finally upload a large version of my profile picture… / I kinda grown to really like this guy. Taken in Sri Lanka, just outside the grounds of our hotel (definitely wild by the way). btw, about 5 metres away from him some other monkeys were involved in an act of… yeah well I’ll leave it to your imaginations.
