Model – Meluxine The height of winter, she’s laying on wet frozen ground, in a vintage dress and my ugg boots, full to the brim with Hungry Jacks, watching me dance like a crazy person with a head cold around her when suddenly the sun breaks through right at the perfect moment, and she manages to pull of that look like it’s as easy as microwave popcorn. / This girl rocks. Canon 40D + available [overcast] light. / The film versions are pretty cool too. Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas

Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz got lost and never found her way home to Kansas from the Wizard of Oz. The Wizard took her virginity with the okie dokie line. She parted her legs and then clicking her heels and repeating some magical phrase. While she closed her eyes, the wizard of Oz escapes on a balloon after getting the bragging rights by taking her ruby slippers.. She’s been standing there in the rain clicking her bare heels together saying “there’s no place like home” for 50 or 60 years while the short guy works at the lollipop gin. She marries the little guy from the lollipop gin. The Moral of the story for a nature lover. High winds are the farcical twister of life. There is more truth to the length of ones tale than wishes.

Many many images edited in CS3…lots of detail so look closely…:)....the little girl is my youngest dressed up as Dorthy (she is a big fan :) )....this was a shared project with her…she chose the theme and where things would go and what was added…..she really enjoys watching me work in photoshop and many times lends her thoughts on my images…sometimes I listen….like her though sometimes I am stubborn and do it my way :) lol

We have this dear friend Dorothy, who for some crazy reason has never received a painting of mine. / She mentioned this to me a few weeks back. / It is hard to believe, because I mostly give my paintings away to friends and family. / Rarely is there a sale!! :( / Anyway,,,, I told her to go to www.myspace.com/whitedovestudio and let me know which painting she would like to have. / And if it iwas available I would be happy to give it to her. / Well,,,, of all my paintings to choose from, / she responded with “Standing Proud” / text can be linked“ / “Standing Proud” was not for sale or for “give-away” I told her. / I asked her why she chose that…. / I seems that her dad (now deceased) was a steel worker who worked on “The Twin Towers”. / He was one of the few men who erected the antenna on the Second tower. / She is so proud of her dad and said he is “rolling over in his grave” over what had happened on 9/11. / I usually do not like to re-make a painting as it usually just doesn’t feel right… / This is an exception…. / Dorothy…. This is for You and Your Dad (RIP) / With much love ….. / and as always / Aloha’ / KJ / Acrylic on Wood / Original Not For Sale

October 2007 – Markers, water colour & digital rendering. Album cover for a hypothetical re-release of Hanoi Rocks ‘Back to Mystery City’. Was going for a metal / glam’d up Dorothy Gale (Emerald City, key to momby’s heads etc). The illustration works as part of the theme carried throughout the packaging. This image works so that the right hand side is the front cover and the left wraps around to the back.

WIthin all that spinning going up and down in the sun in the rain passing Amish people. One can easily think they are in the land of Oz.

This was taken in our backyard. I was on the ground taking pictures of our dogs at eye level when Dorothy walked up to me with this piece of grass stuck to the end of her nose. We always thought of Dorothy as the most fashion forward of dogs.

The 14th Century medieval courtyard has a 1500 year old Yew Tree. The garden design was co-ordinated by Dorothy Elmhirst and is recognised as amongst the finest in the country. Dorothy Grimhart stared at the house. It was different, that was for sure, but it was still home. Or was it? Could she even open the door now? And the chimney? It seemed likely not to work, and winter was coming. Not to mention the twisted trees in Harrows Field, mockeries of the beautiful creatures they used to be. / / No, this wasn’t home. It was a house, and it had been changed, just like everything else. Dorothy sighed and walked up the steps. She tried the door. It opened. Whoop-dee-freaking-doo. She entered the house and stared in dismay at the furniture. The twisted wood and ridiculous shapes made her want to to turn around and leave, never to come back. She sat her small, raggedy bag down on the bright blue floor and remarked to no one in particular, “I’m home.” _I played around with the picture below in Photo shop express to create the above. The story just came to me as I uploaded this.
