I sit here today, all by myself with plenty of thoughts in my head. This was a thought on paper. I don’t know what it means, but I think it’s pretty darn cool. Enjoi!

This is a splintering, old red door on a ranch in rural Texas. I’m not sure what’s behind that locked door, but I’m kind of curious…

I’ve just tweaked the grey gate a little to add a little more light and definition, using PS Elements 6 and the handy tool of a Scott Kelby book recommended by the fantasic photographer Chris Clark Thanks Chris I really appreciate your kindness! For me its a one off and a bit different to the usual..so any feedback is especially welcome / cheers / ding / ;))

/ “Door #4” is part of the Collection “Everyday Things” and is of course the fourth door…like Doors 1 and 2, it is not a painting, but a drawing, this time in Conte crayon…I love door knockers and refuse to add a bell to my front door…I polish mine so that it shines a welcome to all, but I made this one a bit oxidized, a little verdigrised to add some texture and interest to the painting…I never want to make it too literal... / I find the patina of age very intriguing and exciting to recreate in paint…I always have cuts of MDF and Masonite primed with gesso waiting in the wings, ready for when inspiration hits me…lately I’ve been preoccupied with doors and things to do with doors….I made this door old…very old…it has withstood the test of time and all kinds of weather and has been painted many times, attesting to a tale of many owners…lately someone dressed it with a shiny new red door knob…why? if it could talk it would tell many stories.... Visiting and dreaming / Are the realities of the hope-world. / Crying and obtaining / Are the realities of the prayer-world. / Silencing and becoming / Are the realities of the meditation-world.Sri Chinmoy “Realities” is a collaborative work based on the wonderful photography of Eric Thom, but also includes my Clematis prints…see links below…although Eric’s photos are images of doors and windows of buildings, I saw them as more than that…I decided to create a collage of transfer prints to give the illusion of the interior of a place of worship, with light pouring in on those who come to meditate…..the large shape on the right is symbolic of all the floral tributes we make at the important events in our lives…Sri Chinmoys verse expresses all that the painting is meant to convey / / Inks and Bleach Pen on Saunders Hot Press Paper Eric Thom Advance You Really Don’t Want In Barrier To The Outside
